Appendix: Downtime at Fort Ettin

Welcome to Fort Ettin!

Whether you're a new adventurer to the Dawnlands or one of our seasoned veterans we have built this Fort for you! It's awesome! When you’ve come back from wading through the swamps of the Frog Bog or if you need a place to wind down after hopping over to the Feywild, there are loads of amenities here to help you live your best adventurer life!

But not every week is going to see you off chasing down grimlocks or rescuing merchants – though there are constant notices on the board every week – sometimes an adventurer like yourself wants to do some honest work or flex those skills you’ve spent years building. We've got plenty here to let you do just that.

Please take a look below and, should you have any questions about them, the Fort, or just life in general in the Dawnlands, me and my staff* are here to help!

The Fourth Head of the Ettin,
Jenna Archselon

*Downtime DMs.

This section details what Downtime Activities are available to adventurers staying in Fort Ettin, as it is separate from the larger towns and cities.

Bardic Performance

Performances can be done in the Great Hall of Fort Ettin where your fellow adventurers gather for food, drink, and talk about their latest adventures! DC is 2d10+7 and, if successful, would pay for a Modest lifestyle for the week (11 gp).

Payment comes from the unnamed adventurer crowd/Jenna’s staff who help run the Fort. See the Bardic Performance downtime section of this guide for more details.

Brewing

On the west side of Fort Ettin there is the Alchemical Laboratory. Any adventurer is welcome to use this space to brew the potions they wish. If what you’re working on would
be best kept away from prying eyes we do allow for residents to brew in their own rooms. Just make sure you wear safety goggles!

See the Brewing downtime section of this guide for more details.

Business

You have a business venture you wish to try out and there is space for you to do so. On the eastern side of the courtyard in front of the Stables and Storeroom you can set up a Tiny-sized Business in our Adventurer’s Market.

See the Business downtime section of this guide for more details.

Crafting Items

On the west side of Fort Ettin, north of the Alchemical Laboratory is a Forge. This space can be used to craft items that require such a space. If what you are crafting is something that does not require a forge through the use of Weaver’s Tools or Carpentry, please discuss with the DTDMs where would be best for you to do your crafting.

See the Crafting Items downtime section of this guide for more details.

Gambling

Adventuring is one of the most well paying jobs out there – so why not try your hand at a little gambling? In the Great Hall here are some experienced adventurers who like to play dice or cards and bet considerable sums, and at times we have the odd entrepreneur or merchant pass through, looking to test their skills. But be careful! These folks are highly skilled, and it can be hard for those whose skills are not of a high enough calibre!

See the Gambling downtime section of this guide for more details.

Pit Fighting

Right next to the Medical Tent is a great swath of dusty ground – The Training Yard, the perfect place to test your combat skills. There are special trainers and sometimes, seasoned veterans, who will accept anyone’s challenge. And once you’re done, pop on over to the Medical Tent to get patched up, ready to go for round two.

See the Pit Fighting downtime section of this guide for more details.

Relaxation

Did someone say Spa Day? What better way to rest and relax after your latest adventure than in the underground spa of Fort Ettin.

See the Relaxtion downtime section of this guide for more details.

Religious/Civil Service

On the second story of the Fort in the south west corner is the chapel. As soon as you move into Fort Ettin, you will find a shrine to your deity located there. Wish to spread the Good Word? Then we encourage you to do so! If you’re less deity inclined but still wish to do a good deed to help out, there are tasks a plenty you can help out with around the Fort.

See the Religious/Civil Service downtime section of this guide for more details.

Research

On the second story of the Fort in the south east corner is the library. You will find many a researcher from Daring Academy in there, pouring over tomes. This space is also available to you to look up the latest question you may have from your recent adventure, with the researchers from the Academy there to help.

See the Research downtime section of this guide for more details.

Training: Languages and Tools

You will never find a more abundant source of training for languages or tools than your other fellow adventurers. Some of the staff can also help with training, but keep in mind they are here to help make the Fort run smoothly. If there’s a Language or Tool you wish to learn, ask around and see if there is someone (PC or NCP) available to start your training.

See the Training downtime section of this guide for more details.

Work

Wish to lend a hand? The Fort has many amenities where you can work to earn some extra coin! This includes but is not limited to: the Kitchens, the Bar/Great Hall, the Stables, the Forge, the Library, Cleaning and Upkeep, Groundskeeping, etc. If there’s something not listed here that you would like to lend a hand with let us know! We will be happy to discuss.

See the Work downtime section of this guide for more details.
