The shop room is even smaller than it seems from the outside. A narrow room, displays and shelves stuffed with odds and ends line the walls, and a trestle table at the far end, with a door beyond that leads to gods-only-know-where. The room has recently been cleared of dust, but anyone can tell that at least a carpet is sorely needed to cover up the floorboards that might as well have been the site of a grizzly murder years ago.
“Welcome, welcome honoured customer! Step inside and marvel at everything Mace’s Emporium has to offer! Only the most exotic treasures I have here, peruse to your heart’s content! Or did you come to sell? Everything is possible at the Emporium of Pre-Loved Wonders...”
The Emporium is located in Port Ffirst, and is a place where players can sell and buy magic items during Downtime.
For selling items to the Emporium, the standard offer is to buy for 50% of the Kantas Price List value, but PCs can potentially haggle the price with a successful Persuasion check.
For buying items from the Emporium stock list PCs can either buy for the standard kitem value or potentially lower the selling price with a successful Persuasion check.
The Persuasion check DCs for buying and selling are listed below:
Persuasion check result | Shop will buy for | Shop will sell for |
0 or less | 50% of kitem value | buying price or kitem value (whichever is higher) |
1-10 | 51% of kitem value | buying price or 99% of kitem value (whichever is higher) |
11-15 | 55% of kitem value | buying price or 95% of kitem value (whichever is higher) |
16-21 | 60% of kitem value | buying price or 90% of kitem value (whichever is higher) |
22-29 | 65% of kitem value | buying price or 85% of kitem value (whichever is higher) |
30+ | 65% of kitem value plus a free trinket (DTDM rolls on the trinkets table in the PHB) | 85% of kitem value |
The Emporium's stock list can be found here, with the kitem price list found here
The Emporium has a ever rotating stock, reflecting the constant fluidity of the adventurer's finds and purse strings. 3 new items (randomly determined by the WBs) will be added and 3 current items (also randomly determined) will leave the stock list regularly.
A list of these items will be published on the first Tuesday of a month (with Kitem Prices to assist people in budgeting), with the actual change in stock occurring at midday on the following Saturday. Sales of new items will go to the first person to declare their intention in DT Gen after midday on the Saturday.
