Long ago, Stormhaven became a beacon of hope when it was chosen as the new capital of Kildar after the disastrous destruction of Torrica. For almost two centuries, it stood as Kildar's greatest political and economic powerhouse—a wealthy, diverse city where trade, magic, education, industry, and culture flourished.

Today, Stormhaven is a reminder of a past that has largely disappeared.

The war ended with the allied forces of the Lords' Alliance and the Crusaders of Lady Elaine, leaving Stormhaven heavily damaged. When the fighting was over, it was unclear what should become of the former capital. Many of its citizens had survived, but some resented the Lords' Alliance for what had happened during the war. At the same time, goblins and fey fleeing the civil war in Anfyn began settling in the ruined city.

Eventually, Stormhaven was divided into three parts.

The Northern Part belongs to the Lords' Alliance. Once home to the city's wealthiest districts, it is now a fortified stronghold and center of military power, education, and administration. Eventide Academy trains promising mages and diplomats, while the Temple of Lady Elaine provides a rare point of contact with the goblins and fey of the South.

The Southern Part belongs to the goblins and fey who settled there during and after the war. It is the poorest and most chaotic part of Stormhaven, but also the freest. The goblins rebuilt much of the destroyed housing in a standardized style known as Brukkaracks, while the Open Ja(h)red University welcomes anyone willing to teach, perform, or share an idea—whether brilliant or ridiculous.

The Middle Part serves as a buffer between the two. Most of Stormhaven's remaining citizens live here, trying to rebuild the city's economy one shop, forge, fishing boat, and market stall at a time. A local resistance movement, officially little more than a collection of criminals and bandits, keeps order and collects "protection taxes" while maintaining an uneasy balance between the city's other two powers.

The old district names—Sunnyspire, Gallows End, Ironclad, Elanium, Varina, and Riverbend—are still used by locals, but the old divisions have been largely overshadowed by the new political reality. Each part of Stormhaven now follows its own rules, pursues its own interests, and dreams of a different future.

Whether these three parts can eventually find a way to coexist and rebuild something resembling the old Stormhaven—or whether one of them will eventually consume the others—only time will tell.
