Velvetglade, one of the capital cities of the Sevenfold Commonwealth alongside Spellwhisk, has grown into a thriving center of diplomacy and commerce. Founded as the second city by Allura Hershkowitz along with Theodorus Weinberg, it has undergone several name changes over the centuries, including Elkridge Glade and, long ago, Cerfmont.

Home to the charismatic and ambitious Deerfolk, Velvetglade is encircled by gleaming ivory walls, a symbol of the opulence its inhabitants prize.

The Deerfolk’s early exclusive trading deals with Concordia—particularly Costa Del Rugido—and the Sunfire Expanse established the city as Sevenfold’s premier hub for silk, velvet, linen, cotton, and wool. These luxurious textiles cemented Velvetglade’s reputation as a hotspot for refinement and extravagance.

The surrounding towns, collectively known as Velvet’s Reach, complement the city with their rustic charm, forming a network of communities linked by commerce and the Deerfolk’s appetite for luxury.

The city’s most influential families, the Hershkowitz and the Weinbergs, dominate Velvetglade’s social and economic life. The Hershkowitz famoily, in particular, exemplifies wealth and prestige, with businesses, philanthropy, and civic influence extending throughout the region. The Weinbergs are equally respected for their mastery of textiles and clothing, reinforcing the city’s identity as a center of craftsmanship and style.

Velvetglade also serves as a political hub for the Sevenfold Commonwealth. The “Council of Seven,” representing diverse races and backgrounds, governs during the Autumn and Winter seasons, shaping the city’s policies and ensuring its citizens—old and new—find their place within its walls.

A notable institution in Velvetglade is the Temple of Concepts, originally established by Allura Hershkowitz. The second-largest building in the city, just slightly smaller than the Council of Seven, the temple functions more like a museum than a place of worship. Its lower floor presents the many Concepts that have shaped Ignisar, illustrating their historical impact.

The upper floor houses a gallery of idol paintings restored from before the Throne Wars, showcasing the Idols and their stories. Visitors come to study, reflect, or simply appreciate the artistry, making it a center of learning and cultural preservation. A small gift shop, sponsored by Dragons & Deposits, adds a lighthearted touch for casual guests.
