Rivinmund, once a proud part of the mighty realm of Reynesse and Cathringia, now stands as an independent duchy forged through the fires of conflict. Following the cataclysmic event known as the Great Fracture, which shattered the stability of the continent, Rivinmund found itself caught in the midst of a fierce war between the rival powers of Cathringia and Reynesse in 4AF in which the Cathringians occupied the land after having lost it centuries prior.

Strategically positioned as a borderland between Cathringia and Reynesse, Rivinmund became a contested territory, subject to the ambitions of both nations. Recognising the need for a buffer state to safeguard the newly established Gelschris, Reynesse’s knights reclaimed and set up a buffer state under their (and to a more tenuous extent, Reynesse) protection in Rivinmund in 4 AF, solidifying its status as a separate entity.

The war between Cathringia and Reynesse ravaged the land, leaving scars of destruction and displacement in its wake. The resilient people of Rivinmund, bound by their shared history and loyalty to their homeland, fought valiantly to defend their way of life. Through their unwavering determination and steadfast resistance, they managed to repel the invading forces and assert their autonomy. As a result of their hard-fought victory, Rivinmund emerged as a sovereign duchy, distinct from both Cathringia and Reynesse. The newly established nation forged its own path, embracing the principles of self-governance and freedom. Although born out of conflict, Rivinmund’s independence brought a newfound sense of pride and unity among its people.
