History

The Voräälyn (High Ones) of Dölgyd, live, and have lived for millenia deep within the Törgdon Mountains. The first of the races to enter the world, they are also the most isolated. Before they split from their brothers, the Tälväälyn (Faded Kin/Ones), the Törgdon Mountains were under the rulership of the dyarchy of brothers. Kyost, who remains to this day their ruler, and his brother Eero. These two brothers were the first of their kind, and when they woke simultaneously, and Káre and Irmeli, the sister-wives of Eero and Kyost respectively followed shortly after. Seppä the holy prophet and son of Eänyr/Enä taught them how to speak and taught them the wonders of his knowledge, to Kyost, he taught crafting and Eero he taught floriculture.

The two began to build civilisation within the mountain and as the Diarchy within the mountain grew and flourished, so more did Seppä, under the orders of Eänyr wake to bask in it.

Two Paths

Millenia passed in peace, as the two brothers ruled in harmony. However, Eero wished to see more of the world that their holy mother had created, while Kyost wished to stay within the mountains, their home. This division soon spread and Eero announced that he would be departing the mountains with his followers, to find a new home outside its stone walls. Alone in the mountain as its only king, Kyost remained and continued to oversee his domain, albeit, he became more and more authoritarian in the absence of his brother.

As millenia passed and the migrations of men came to the shores of Poseia, the Voräälyn remained aloof to the changes outside their walls, simply observing as his brother and his followers battled the invaders in countless wars. Preferring instead to secure his mountain kingdom, and only interacting with the outside world on odd occasions to quell the gaze of other kingdoms, and buying their ambitions with great gifts of his people. Indeed, whenever a threat came to his ears, his preferred the use of the corrupted Ogkan to do his bidding outside the walls of Törgdon than risk spilling the blood of his own creed.

The most that the Mountains have interacted with the outside world was the construction of the Äälkair Lujö and the magical Forge of Spells within. They did so with the then Auresian peoples of Phandellus. However, even then they turned on their supposed allies and used their Ogkan pawns to burn, pillage and, ruin the northern reaches of Auresia, hiding the Forge of Spells for centuries. Of course, the reasoning for this is not known. But rumours that have come out of the mountains since then has led to the belief that Kyost grew concerned that should the Forge of Spells fall out of the control of his grip, it might be used to threaten his home and people, choosing to betray his allies rather than risk the alternative.

Splendid Isolation

Unfortunately, not much else is known of Dölgyd. With no sound leaving the mountains for over 200 years, and all explorers never having returned with all traces of them vanishing. Even the occasional traders that would come into the Empire of Poseia to restrain them from turning their attention to the mountains ceased following the death of Arecius I.
