Granted to the Knights of Reynesse following the short-conflict that erupted after the fracture in 4AF and the pivotal role they played in preventing the resurgent Cathringian armies from marching onto Rivierren. Nominally independent, the Duchy of Gelschris still give their fealty to Reynesse and the banners of the nation can be seen throughout the province, while the Knights will ride and meet any threat that amasses on the border of Reynesse.
While this may be the case, the Cathringians have often accused Reynesse as using the supposed independence of Gelschris to further their goals in the region and official Cathringian maps do include the region as part of Reynesse proper. Regardless, the Grandmaster of the Knights do have free reign in his own realm and often governors as a king. However, unlike a king, the Grandmaster is elected by the order of the Knights, with each knight having their own vote.
The region itself is plentiful and marks the only part of the ruined Wall of Reynesse that is maintained as it rolls across the hills between the two nations. Additionally, the knights in more recent times have often lent their support to the Yrwin against bandits and others in exchange for a nominal payment. Ultimately, small they may be, they are perhaps the most well equipped and well-trained soldiers on the continent and none are often brave enough to face against a cavalry charge from the knights.
