Vernatorlis comes from the Old Auresian words meaning Jewelled Mountain, owing to the vast mines that the city is perched upon.

Founded following the destruction of Serdos in the War of the Six Kings in 2266 BF, Vernatorlis quickly surpassed the old capital of Serdos in both size and grandeur.
