The Concord of Vraakheld was the peace settlement that ended the 3rd Arvessan War of Succession in 1273 AB, concluding 26 Veyrathian years (about 17.8 Cycles) of warfare that had begun with Imperial State of Khargorath's attempt to secure the vacant Arvessan Empire imperial throne. The conflict expanded far beyond the original succession dispute as Khargorath's immediate neighbors entered the war against it and fighting spread across Occara and Mediath, eventually involving states throughout much of Veyrath.
Negotiated at Vraakheld after Khargorath's military position had become untenable, the Concord established the political settlement that followed the war. Among its most important provisions, Khargorath recognized the independence of the Skorvann League, the Maritime State of Zhergost, and the Kingdom of Kharneth. The treaty also recognized the Ekbir Caliphate as independent from the Asharan Sultanate, formalizing another major territorial and political change produced by the war.
The Concord also established arrangements for prisoner exchanges, disputed property and debts, reopened trade, and the normalization of relations between former belligerents. Vraakheld subsequently became an important neutral venue for arbitration and negotiations connected to the postwar settlement. The treaty ended the Third Arvessan War as an active military conflict, although many of the territorial, dynastic, and political grievances created by it remain unresolved today.
