The Kingdom of Erden that once unified all the peoples of the continent of Tellus under one banner nominally fell in the great Cataclysm that saw the dead return to the living world. Those living mortals who remain still remember their allegiance however and still find themselves united by common cause, namely the survival and restoration of the living world. What is left of the Kingdom geopolitically are the Enclaves, bastions of life and hope in a world where the Bloodless stalk the land.
Based in the great temple-cities still protected by what little endures of the gods’ earthly power, these domains once ruled over wide swaths of the land. During the Cataclysm that brought the Kingdom low, these city-states saw their borders shrink drastically as the outlying regions became untamed and overrun by the returned undead and other evils. These lost frontiers became collectively known as the Shroudlands, a wilderness unsafe for any but the most capable of outlanders and adventurers. Still, the heartlands of the Enclaves endure as havens of civilization in an otherwise dark age.
Your character in life came from one of these Enclaves and it is their people who now send the fervent prayers the gods wish your character to answer.
While the full Timeline is still under development, it is known that the Cataclysm happened over 100 years ago. As a Player Character, there are 13 Enclaves which your character can be from. Your character cannot have been from or lived in Khemreset or Starngard, as these two Enclaves fell during the Cataclysm itself. Some Enclaves have fallen to the Shroudlands in since the Cataclysm, but your character CAN be from those Fallen Enclaves (in fact, it could be a good backstory hook since your character is dead, that you could have died defending it to the end and it's a good motivation to retake it in game).
