LegendKeeper: Foundations

Feature image for LegendKeeper: Foundations

Hey squad, long time no see! We've spent the last few months heads down, rebuilding LegendKeeper from the ground up. Everything's faster, easier to use, and ready for the roadmap ahead. And to be clear: everything you've built is right where you left it; it's just more polished.

This update got so huge we had to split it into five volumes. We're also planning something special to close out the series, but more on that when we get there.

A peek at some new UI in LegendKeeper 0.19

This first volume is mostly under-the-hood work, but you'll feel the difference:

A whole new LegendKeeper. We rebuilt the entire UI from scratch, killing years of inconsistencies and making everything more polished. Version 0.19 lives at www.legendkeeper.com/login, and your old links will redirect automatically within a week or two.

At a glance

Public pages. Much less visual divergence between the public and private view of a page, as well as functional index blocks and search.

New sign-in methods. New login screen with Discord, password, and passkey support, plus redesigned account settings.

Project settings. A new project screen, invite screen, custom names/icons/covers, and a redesigned settings dialog with better tools for tag, permission, and trash management.

A more powerful editor. New text boxes and layout/color options on most blocks, images with page links, customizable tab and callout icons.

Templates. A dedicated templates tab replaces the old pseudo-folder; right-click or drag to convert pages, and meta-templates are back.

Happy 7 years of worldbuilding!

As of two weeks ago, LegendKeeper is SEVEN YEARS OLD! I really can't believe it. Veterans, do you remember when the Atlas was a completely different app within the app? Remember "Story" mode? It's amazing seeing what feels the same versus what changed; LK has been through so many evolutions since then: collaborative multiplayer, timelines, and more.

(And yes, I'm still running Princes of the Apocalypse with my D&D group 7 years later. We went off the rails in Act 3 and are in homebrew territory now, though.)

This is what LegendKeeper looked like in 2019. Pin design hasn't changed much!

We appreciate your support through these years! We're so thankful to hand-craft this experience and be part of your creative process. LK 0.19 eliminates the tech debt that's been slowing us down, so I'm excited to move into the next era of improvements for LegendKeeper.

Here's to 7+ more years! See you in the next volume....Which won't take nearly as long, I promise. 😄
