Foundations Vol. 3

byBraden HerndonPublished on

Volume 1 cleaned house. Volume 2 gave you new blocks for your pages. Volume 3 is for the turbo-nerds: LegendKeeper now has a public API and SDK. Developers can now create integrations that manipulate your pages, maps, boards, and timelines programatically.

This one's a little more under-the-hood than Vol. 2. If you've never written a line of code, nothing really changes for you today. But if you've got the technical skills, or know someone who does, there are more possibilities now.

What could you build?

To be clear up front: none of the things below exist, and they're not features you'll find inside LegendKeeper today. They're examples of what someone could build with the API & SDK. Maybe that someone is you!

A Discord bot that interacts with your world. A Discord bot that can pull pages directly from your project, or add content via Discord messages.

VTT Integrations. Sync pages to and from your favorite VTT.

More sophisticated import tools. While LK has a variety of import targets, you could import data from your favorite reference sites.

There's a whole lot more possibilities: The point of the API is to give you the ability to leverage your LegendKeeper project in ways we haven't imagined. If you build something like that, we'd love to see it.

Share it in the #programming channel on our Discord, and we'll feature our favorites in a future post.

For everyone else: thanks for your patience through a nerdier volume. Vol. 4 is back to front-of-house stuff.
