Caolán’s Stones lie deep within the old forest of Druinmor, a narrow procession of weathered monoliths set in twin lines that lead to a worn stone archway, raised in the elder age to honour Caolán (pronounced:- "Kway-lawn"), ancient god of the hunt and judge of worthy prey. Before the stones runs Caolán’s Run, a fast, cold stream said to reveal one's true self. Those who cross it feel their senses sharpen and their resolve hardened, while the unworthy are plagued by doubt and fear. For generations, the Talbane Clan has brought their young here in silence, sending each alone across the stream and between the stones as a rite of passage. Those who pass beneath the arch return as sworn giant-slayers; those who do not are believed to have been claimed by Caolán himself, transformed in to beasts and taken into the forest to hunt, or be hunted, forever.
