Ebonrest

Ebonrest is the necropolis of Altoria, the city's district for its honored dead. Ancient mausoleums, crypts, and graveyards line its narrow cobbled streets, with the grand tombs of noble houses towering over ivy-covered family plots and a central obelisk carved with the names of the city's most revered figures. A cool, damp quiet holds over the district, kept by the caretakers, gravediggers, priests, and scholars who tend it, and broken only by tolling bells and the rites held to keep the dead at peace. Citizens come to mourn, honor ancestors, and reflect, though the district also draws those with darker or academic interest in death, and after nightfall the talk turns to restless spirits and forgotten crypts.
