Kyanium (also known as Kalaan) is a rare heavy metal alloy of Giranium and Mithral. The other metals used in its creation have become incredibly rare due to the Cometfall, and there is a limited amount of Kalaan left in the world as the skill to create it is increasingly lost. The purple alloy has the properties to absorb and conduct magical energy that it comes into contact with. It is famously used in the creation of spell-storing-rings by the College of Zaubarovia.
A powdered down form of it is sometimes referred to as Kyan or Kjan Powder. This highly sought after metallic powder holds most of the same properties as actual Kyanium, but due to the rarity of the alloy this dust is slightly more accessible by the third era.
Varkanus, the god of magic, famously wears a necklace of Kalaan to counteract the magical curse of the god-killing metal, Azbaan.
Generic variant, very rare (requires attunement)
This magical armor is reinforced with Kalaan, a purple metal alloy with the ability to absorb and hold magic. While you're wearing the armor, you have advantage on saving throws made to resist spell effects.
Additionally, you can take a Reaction to absorb a spell that is targeting only you and doesn't create an area of effect. The absorbed spell's effect is canceled, and the spell's energy—not the spell itself—is stored in the armor. The energy has the same level as the spell when it was cast. A canceled spell dissipates with no effect, and any resources used to cast it are wasted. The armor can absorb and store up to 25 levels of energy. Once the armor absorbs 25 levels of energy, it can't absorb more until the energy is spent. If you are targeted by a spell that the armor can't store, the armor has no effect on that spell.
If you are a spellcaster wearing the armor, you can use an action to convert energy stored in it into spell slots. You can create spell slots only of a level equal to or lower than your own spell slots, up to a maximum of level 5. For example, you can use 3 levels stored in the armor as a level 3 spell slot.
