Situated atop the city of Hyarat is the towering College of Zaubarovia, which is the seat of the government of the Magocracy of Zaubarovia as well as the most famous magical academy of Abmarah. The college's campus is considered to be among the Eight Wonders of the World.
To the north of the city of Hyarat is the peninsula called the 'Seat of Shadows', also known as the Isswatch Peninsula by the commonfolk. One of the primal wells of magical leylines, mages from all over gathered here long ago to tap into the secrets of these cliffs, founding the city.
The College is the centerpoint of magical learning in the northern hemisphere of Abmarah, founded by scholars of Gunian and the priests of Tempos. They say that the mages of Zaubarovia dug deep into the caverns of the Isswatch Peninsula, and discovered a pale blue metal that channels the fabric of spacetime itself. Focusing their learnings through this metal, named 'Chronostone' or 'Tempium', the mages created the schools of chronurgy and graviturgy in these halls.
In addition to being the headmaster of the college, the Archchancellor of Zaubarovia also serves as the leader of the Magedom of Zaubarovia, a position of equal grandeur as the kings and queens of the other kingdoms, only below the High King of Terros himself.
Unlike the other leaders of Terros, the position of Archchancellor is merit based and democratically elected amidst college faculty, although the higher voting strength of the ruling Archchancellor tends to favor whoever they select as their successor, whether that's within their family or not.
The Academy has a strong dislike for the divine magics, considering the faith magics of Alsorion to be giving up mortal independence. Unlike southern academies such as the Carminus Universum, Zaubarovia does not allow just anyone within their halls, and definitely has a strong distaste for any kind of clerics or paladins amidst their ranks other than those who follow Gunian and perhaps Tempos. Paladins are only permitted if their oaths are not dedicated to any particular god.
There are many different 'schools' of magic within the college. These departments are called Conspectuses, and each specialize in different forms of magic. They are each led by a different Magister, and teach their own curriculum. Students are allowed to pick any conspectus after their first year, but they are always allowed to learn from multiple. There can be rivalries between conspectuses, and they don't share all of their secrets with non-members.

Oblivinus Conspectus. One of the founding orders, they are the administrative and governmental head of the nation of Zaubarovia, handling much of the politics and running of the realm. As for their field of study, they are dedicated to the basics of wizardry and sorcery, teaching non-specialized general magic and the nature of the weave to students. As such, this is also the biggest and first conspectus that students join before they choose to follow any other. They nurture some of the strongest mages in the world with focuses on transmutation and conjuration amidst other things. It was founded by and named after one of the three founders of the college, Horik Oblivinus, who also became the college's first headmaster.
Uhrwerk Conspectus. One of the founding orders, they study time itself and have based their learning around the natural chronostones found underneath the College. Some people think that members of this conspectus can travel through time or predict the future, as much of what they do is incomprehensible to even other mages. With much of their learning revolving around the goddess Tempos, they are one of the only orders in the world who teach chronurgy. It was founded by one of the three founders of the college, Lord Felix Timeron, for whom the capital of Timeron is also named after.
Wereldzaad Conspectus. One of the founding orders, they study the concept of space, voidspace, and cosmology as a whole. Other than magic, these scholars also focus on physics, mathematics, and geometry. Looking to the skies and other realms, members of this order maintain planar gateways and ways to summon and control extraplanar entities. They are the first in the world to have harnessed the power of gravity as well, creating the magic school of graviturgy. This conspectus was founded by and named after one of the three founders of the college, Zotros Wereldzaad, a planar traveler who is said to have climbed the world tree.
Varkali Conspectus. This order is devoted to the study and magic of nature and biology. It focuses on the ebb and flow of life and ecosystems, with classes focused around primal magic. It nurtures alchemists, druids, and rangers of all places. They see themselves as more sophisticated than traditional druid circles as they do not focus solely on the protection of nature, but the study and control of it. They see life as not only positive, but negative as well, openly teaching necromancy as well as medicinal magic. They are one of the few safe havens for intelligent undead, as they consider death as anotheer part of life. This conspectus was founded by and named after the archdruid dragon Varkali, also known as Varkevgirlah, who used to be one of the leaders of the Cult of Varkanus in her time.
Wizzan Conspectus. Paradoxically and maybe hypocritically, this order nurtures intelligence-based clerics and wizards who follow the god of knowledge, Gunian. They are one of the few and only mages in the college that channel divine magic through their knowledge. Their goal is to gather and store knowledge, creating a vast arcane library. Their secrets are seldom shared with the wider world, or even other conspectuses. They heavily use archaeomancy, which is the art of using magic to uncover artifacts from history. It is said that this conspectus was founded by the god Gunian himself, who was the only celestial to sympathise with the anti-divinity of the college.
Schattenjäger Conspectus. The Schattenjäger are a particular order of elite Terrosi fights who believe that for any knight or warrior to reach the peak of their abilities, they must not limit their skills to just swordplay. Their martial prowess is to be enhanced with magic, or vice versa. In turn the threats they deal with are themselves usually magical in nature. Although, some have raised the question of whether the knights trained by this conspectus are loyal to the Kingdom of Terros, or solely to their academy. This conspectus was founded by and named after a redeemed death knight only known as the Schattenjäger.
Rozenhout Conspectus. The newest order the college, only formed two centuries ago. It is considered as the conspectus of the creative arts, focusing on artistic magic, the power of words and song, and the explosive creativity within the elemental evocation magic. Focusing on literature, art, poetry, drama, debate, and music, they take magic as an art to a literal level. They nurture charismatic mages that explore the power of expression. This conspectus was founded by and named after a vedavin bard named Uyarnii who took the name Rozenhout upon coming to Zaubarovia. She is the only conspectus founder who is still alive, although she is no longer a magister.
The college has a vast campus that feels as big as a city itself. Situated on top of a gigantic cliff, elevators take people up and down the cliff throughout the day. Each of the conspectuses have their own departments within the college, but there are some standout locations.

In the center of the college is a courtyard that connects to each of the conspectuses. The college itself is a vista of gothic architecture, with observatories and tall towers all over the place. The college also continues a fair bit underground into the cliff itself.

One of the most iconic locations within the campus is the Library of Oblivinus, mainted by the Wizzan Conspectus as well as the Oblivinus Conspectus. It is one of the largest free libraries in the world, and houses all sorts of knowledge from across the world. While not all information is displayed here due to security concerns, it remains as one of the largest libraries on Abmarah.

A popular location for many students is the Cliffside Café, built into the side of the cliff not too far away from the courtyard. Serving as one of the many restaurants in the campus, the cozy atmosphere makes it one of the favorites among the residents.

The College's underground continues on far deeper than many realize, however. The Uhrwerk Conspectus holds the authority of who is allowed deep within the chronostone caves of the cliff. Some say that the caves hold a deep secret of the followers of Tempos.
As Abmarah's oldest and most venerable institution of higher learning still standing, the College of Zaubarovia's mission is to advance new ideas and promote enduring knowledge of the arcane arts. The Magocracy of Zaubarovia's political and educational goals are interlinked, and only supreme knowledge will further advance the country's power. The College aims for a world in which mortals give themselves power, instead of taking power from divine sources.
The College of Zaubarovia shares the political relationships of the Magocracy of Zaubarovia and the Great Kingdom of Terros as a whole.
Educationally, the College is allied to Carminus Universum in the south and has many student exchange programs. The alliance between the two rival schools was further cemented after the The Great Aurian War during which the researchers of both institutions joined forces. The College also has good relationships with other magical academies such as the Zrari Academy, Blackwood Institute, and Skion University, with some student exchange programs with said institutions.
At any given time, the college has thousands of students amidst their halls, being taught by hundreds of faculty members. However, there are some senior members of the faculty who hold more administrative and political power.
