"The truth of time is best left unexplained."
Tempos, also known as Taus, Nahret, or the Timekeeper, is the Goddess of Time, a physical manifestation of the concept and fabric of time itself. She used to be the arbiter of destiny and fate for mortalkind, and became the patron goddess of the Omniborn "Temporal Empire". They prayed for their civilization to stand her test of time and last eternal.
Tempos herself was known to be a jovial goddess, and spent her time maintaining the correct course of the timeline along with her followers. Rarely, when the timeline was at its weakest, Tempos was known to go into a fit of anger and lose all sense, bringing time to a standstill and paralyzing the cosmos. After the Eterian Time-Break, she created the Time Gears to govern the flow of time and her own self.
She was created by her parent Elder Kosmos through Order alongside her brother Dimensus, and is the half-sister of Rhos and Vark. She was worshiped as one of the most important gods, as the people believed her to be time itself. She never claimed this role, only calling herself a warden of time. The Omniborn Emperor, Khaz Draxal, swore utmost allegiance to Tempos. When they rebelled against the gods, she was not one of them, and neither did she aid her bretheren against the Omniborn. However, some claim that the Omniborn Crisis against the gods lost them her favor and led to the cometfall, especially after they used her gears to kill Tiamat.
After the Cometfall and the end of the first era, it is said that faith in Tempos was shaken for the masses, and she fell into a deep slumber until 'the Time is right'. Followers of Monoliths and Old Ones claim that she has succumbed to the March of Time, and is kept locked in her dreams by the Nameless Eternity. Or perhaps, the eternity keeps her safe in Tindalos via pact or kinship. During the events of Shards of the Empire, her de-facto champion Ingrid Rennwald and the guardians of time hid Tempos away in Tindalos of their own volition. Some say that Tempos will awaken when it is time to end this human era, and bring in a new golden era of Abmarah. Others claim that she shall only awaken when time has run out for this cosmos, and the end is nigh.
While she used to be one of the main gods, nowadays she is only worshiped as a patron goddess in the city of Timeron, the capital city of the Great Kingdom of Terros. Her most devoted followers became the Guardians of Time, taking over the job that she would not be able to do any more. They hid away the five time gears and countless other artifacts of Tempos, guarding them for the eons to come until she awakens from her slumber. She is generally unable to help them out, but occasionally manages to make dream-like contact through the fabric of time.
