The largest and first faith of the aeterian pantheon, Jakunism refers to the religion followed by the Imperium Aeternum and most of eastern Aurial including Terros and the Crimson Empire. They revere Jakuna as the 'leader' of the entire pantheon, and follow her justice above all else. Jakunism in its practices is similar to real-life early catholicism or late hellenism, and build churches instead of temples. They accept most of the other branches of Aeterism, but see themselves as the truest followers of the pantheon. The leader of the Imperium Aeternum, also known as the 'Pontiff', is considered to be the head of faith, and serves in the holy city of Alsorion. For the purposes of this wiki, Jakunism is considered to be the 'default' faith of Aeterism for deity names and interpretations.
As an Aeterian faith, Jakunism follows the same pantheon of gods as the other sects. One of the noteworthy things about Jakunism is that almost no minor gods are actively followed. While Jakunism might recognize, for example, Aklim as a minor goddess—they would not actively worship her or build any churches dedicated to her faith.
The history of Jakunism is initially the same as the history of Aeterism itself as it was the first aeterian faith. The pantheon evolved slowly, coming into its first proper organized form as the Unified Pantheon before the first era, and then developing into Aeterism as we know it during the first era. Scholars have also attempted to divide the gods based on their morality, like in the case of Liios & Diios, which is based in jakunic interpretations.
The world is balanced through creation and destruction, but has been unbalanced for too long. In jakunist traditions, there were four destroyer gods: Elder Dobuna, the Supreme Destroyer; Krros, the Orderly Destroyer; Magmus, the Balanced Destroyer; and Varkanus, the Chaotic Destroyer. Similarly, there were four creator gods: Elder Mekalus, the Supreme Creator; Vertum, the Orderly Creator; Omegus, the Balanced Creator; and Mutrev, the Chaotic Creator.
However, only Mekalus and Vertum ended up staying true to their purpose. Both Omegus and Mutrev strayed from their duties over time, tempted by greater powers than gods. Mutrev was the first to stray, as he abandoned chaos in favor of order. He left his position empty to take over the vacant position of Dimensus becoming the new god of the realms. His position was replaced by the new chaotic creator, Quanus. However, the greater betrayal was that of Omegus, who instead turned into the voidal god-lich of undeath and necromancy replacing the demon prince Orcus. The gods were forced to accept his new role by necessity, and the role of Balanced Creator was unfulfilled for almost a millennia until the ascension of Ultros.
