Saints & Other Venerated People

Some people are venerated and recognized as saints, yogis, sants, or equivalent titles that represent their holiness and devotion to a cause, god, religion, or peoples. Many people even worship some of these individuals like minor gods, and almost all of their names have become common names across Abmarah.

The Imperium Aeternum is the highest authority within Jakunism when it comes to the specific title of 'Saint', which is a jakunist title that needs to be confirmed and canonized by the bishops in Alsorion. While there are many people often called 'Saint' by the common masses, true jakunist sainthood is only given to those recognized by the Imperium.

Some of these individuals include:

The Pontiffs

As they are the leaders of the Imperium Aeternum and Jakunism as a whole, whoever has held the title of the Pontiff Aeturnum is also considered to be a saint. So far, they are:

  • I - Pontiff Caelor I, the Elfbringer

  • II - Pontiff Aeron I

  • III - Pontiff Caelor II

  • IV - Prontiffess Circyra I, the Darkpope

  • V - Pontiff Bôron I

Primordial Era

  • Saint Aurion the Golden-Soul, a legendary sun-elf champion of Jakuna who defeated the giants that originally ruled Aurial. The continent is named after him, but the true historicity of the figure is extremely muddled.

  • Saint Aetheros, a wood-elf champion of Deltus. She founded the Eteru Dynasty of the Xoenni Peninsula and the continent of Eteru is named after her.

First Era

  • Saint Valki also known as Valkan Zuriel, an angel champion of Aethys recognized across the world.

  • Saint Jómaboða, an angel valkyrie of Moðr venerated in Teer.

  • Saint Alric also known as Rajan Alrik, a legendary hero that was the king of the city of Vetalo before the darkness consumed it.

  • Sant Wemana, a vanara hero celebrated across Eqos and beyond, but could possibly be a minor god instead.

Second Era

  • Yogi Raktabhatta, a vedavin yogi who wrote the Varveda and the Loksmriti and essentially founded Ashtadharma.

  • Yogi Ashaneras, a dragoness blessed by Theratis who wrote the Rakhapurana of Ashtadharma.

  • Saint Ulrich, a human cleric from Olzaria who was a devout follower of Jakuna.

  • Yogi Athira, a vedavin follower of Saedevi who was the first High Starseer of Sitaradham Mandir and wrote the Saeveda of Ashtadharma.

Third Era

  • Saint Sombra, the drow emperor of the Crimson Empire. Given living-sainthood by the Pontiff Aeternum for his 'defeat' of Krros and repentance under Jakuna.

  • Saint Arbal, a human revolutionary figure said to be an avatar of Arryestria in Golden Triadism. Arbal remains the most controversial figure popularly called 'Saint', as they were never canonized by the Jakunists of Alsorion. Instead, they were the first and only saint to be canonized by the Golden Church in Sergorod. Despite the debates and religious divides, they are one of the most famous saints especially after the city of St. Arbalsburg was renamed after them.

  • Monk Kazeshi of Shidono Temple, a cinohan abbot who was blessed with 'positive-undeath' by the god of death, Ashus.
