''Wretched magisters, taking everything away from me... put a tavern in this cursed place at least''

Jara was never one for grand ideas or deep philosophy, her world was built on practicality, routine, and survival. She loved her job, not because it was glorious, but because it was hers. She enjoyed the bustling tavern, the rowdy laughter, the clinking of mugs, the jingle of coin in her apron.
Now? It’s all gone. The Wendigo’s attack, the Magisters’ cruelty, the stolen future, it has left her angry, bitter, and lost. She isn’t a warrior. She isn’t a hero. And yet, she has been thrown into a world that demands her to fight or die.
But Jara is not weak. She is stubborn, she is resourceful, and, above all, she knows how to adapt. Life behind a bar teaches you many things: how to read people, how to calm down drunks, how to break up fights, and when to throw a punch yourself.
Determined & Practical – She doesn’t dwell on magic or destiny, she focuses on what she can do in the moment. If she has to fight, she will. If she has to scheme, she will. Whatever it takes to survive.
Bitter but Not Hopeless – She resents the Magisters, resents the loss of her old life, but deep down, she still hopes for something better.
A Natural Survivor – Years of dealing with unruly customers have hardened her, and even though she isn’t a trained fighter, she knows how to hold her own.
Loyal but Distrusting – She will stand by those who prove themselves, but earning her trust takes time.
Jara was born and raised in the Dradeorin Dynasty, a place where power and prestige meant everything, but she had none of it. No noble blood, no magic lineage, no grand ambitions. She just wanted a decent life. And for a while, she had one.
Her tavern, The Ember’s Respite, was a favorite spot among travelers, mercenaries, and adventurers. She had a sharp tongue and an even sharper memory, always knowing what drink someone liked or how to keep them talking just enough to loosen their coin purses. She earned respect, earned a place, not through power, but through reliability and wit.
Then the attack on Azure Bay happened. Wendigo and her sourcemagic-fueled devastation shattered everything. The Magisters came cracking down on anyone who might have a shred of Source in them. Jara didn’t even know she had magic, she barely even uses it. But that didn’t matter.
She was taken and shackled marked as a danger, a criminal, a problem to be locked away.
Now she’s here, on Fort Joy, forced into a life she never wanted, with nothing left but her own stubborn will to keep going.
