Chapter 3 - Session 12 - "You got a back up character right?"

(Written in Flint's Journal post mortem as if from his point of view. By his FRIEND Amani)

Its mission day. We wake up as well rested as we could be considering the conditions and where we are posted up.
I finish fixing up the potions that will hopefully help us with the acid and sludge situations. We decide who will use the pass so as to not be a target by the drones we will definitely run into down there. I pass out the acid resistance potions I made to the party I just hope they will be enough.
After the prep we leave the safe house and make our way to the entrance to the under city tunnels and sub levels of plumbing and oil and gunk. We come to a door to a substation. It just radiates heat from the slurry of sludge and muck all around.
The steam smells like alkaline metal and corrosion. The low frequency thrum of the substation machinery is broken by a metallic shriek on the far side of the room. Odra steps first into the room and not 3 steps had she taken before the whirl of a security drone comes to life and she sees several ooze creatures spread throughout the room. She was able to recall that she read slim and oozes were immune to fire and raw bludgeoning strikes but they had a weakness to cold and electricity. Bruin followed shortly after Odra and ran up to find one of the ooze in the mist. It was hard as hell seeing through the steam and mist down there. Unsuccessfully unfortunately.
I ran in after them and started throwing ice and lightning at this big SOB in the center of the room. Hit it with the lightning bottle but couldn't hit it with the ice bottle unfortunately. Next thing I know I had a terrible brain fog must be from the fumes in here. The Ooze struck out and engulfed Bruin whole. Suddenly we found our bear friend looking like a giant life size gummy bear. Z'ed shocked the hell out of the big one with some lightning. The drone started targeting Odra and shooting at her peppering her with some zaps. Klackers tapped into the speed force and scurried his little red panda ass into the room swinging his staff at the big ooze that had swallowed Bruin. The massive steam vents on the sides of the room started venting horrible steam almost like it was aiming at our group. Odra was having a terrible time she looked sick and confused. Another ooze came from the opposite side of the room and hit me from behind. Odra was on the ground puking her guts out. She was able to rally and stood up trying to strike the ooze but missed. At least she was up to her feet though. Bruin was trying his hardest to break free from the ooze. I mustered all my alchemical expertise and made an alchemist fire with a new sticky bomb additive and lit the ooze on fire like a burning inferno. They turned their attention to me and started striking at me beating the hell out of me and grabbed a hold on me. Amani summoned a giant undead bigger than the damn ooze we were fighting. Z'ed puked and rallied as well. She shot a thunderstrike at the fly drone and hit it pretty damn hard yet it seemed to brush off the hit a little. It turned its attention my way and shot me with a shock that shook me too my core. Klackers, who was mad at me by this point for not coming with him to the other side of the room to check out the machinery, came to my rescue and administered some much needed doctoring. He then bonked the ooze that had grabbed me. The air in the chamber was getting thicker and harder to breath. Most of us got sick to our stomachs and started feeling like breathing it in was poisoning us slowly. Bruin continued to fight like hell inside the ooze to break free but just couldn't do it. I broke free from the ooze that had a hold of me and started making my way to where Klackers was earlier. Amani dismissed her giant ass undead conglomeration and started summoning some creepy poltergeists. Z'ed hit it with another thunderstrike as some lights and fire and steam came out of all the vents on the side of the wall like some sort of counter measure to our presence. The flying drone flew at me with a crazy arc welding blade and I blacked out. They told me that after I fell Klackers ran around and under the drone trying to get to me as more mist pumped into the area choking us out. One pipe even exploded under the pressure. The violent deafening blast was felt by everything in the room friend and foe alike. Klackers, myself, the drone and a couple oozes I heard got it the worst. Apparently Z'ed had gotten tangled up with one of the oozes and had to fight its grasp. At some point Bruin did finally break free from the ooze just for it to attempt to engulf him again but Odra stuck the ooze and it wasn't able to swallow Bruin again. The other one attacked Klackers trying to keep him from getting back to my fallen body. Amani was summoning more ghosts and the ooze fell into a pool of yellow green goo. She used its dying life force to summon an undead that started biting the remaining oozes. Z'ed continued to shoot out thunderstrikes at the drone. I laid unconscious slipping ever closer and closer to deaths door. The drone continued to fly around shooting at our group with its annoying zaps. Klackers, my fury knight in scrubs armor came to my aid. I opened my eyes to see his red furred face looking down at me. I was alive but barely. He continued to work on me until i was able to muster enough strength to get to my feet. All the while the room continued to fill with gunk and the vents continued pumping volatile vapors in blasts. It flung klackers and I around the room. I went flying but Klackers jumped out of the way and landed safely on a steel walkway. Odra kept attacking the ooze. She almost succumb to the poison in her system but somehow remained conscious through the pain. Bruin kept fighting her ooze but couldn't land a solid hit on it. Even when he did strike it the oozed seemed unfazed by her slashing claws. Z'ed tried to break free from the ooze that was grabbing her. I got to my feet and slowly made my way to the controls or whatever they were that Klackers saw earlier. God I hope I can get there in time. I heard in the distance behind me Bruin scream out in agony as he fell in battle. Klackers my ever watching savior made sure I stayed upright as I continued pushing myself towards my destination. He then made his way over to Bruin to stabilize him. If things weren't already hard enough the room continued to fill even more. Soon we'd all be over our heads in this crap. Odra kept attacking at it and realized after all this that her strikes did absolutely nothing to these things. In return the ooze struck out at Z'ed and she fell unconscious. At that moment Bruin was down Z'ed had fallen and with a strike to Klackers he too fell to the ground unconscious. Amani summoned a thrall and tried to defend against the advancing ooze. She cast a spell on the ooze transferring some life force from the ooze to Klackers. I finally made it to the control panel and immediately understood what I was looking at and got to work stopping the room from trying to kill us. It seemed something was keeping the sludge out of the little alcove where the panel was so thankfully I could work without having to fight against the slime. The drone on the other hand had me in its sights so doing all this was proving to be difficult. I heard a woman scream that sounded like Amani as she apparently fell in battle. Klackers who was hanging on to life cast a healing spell that healed everyone around him except Odra who was out of his line of sight. I could hear the chaos in the room behind me as my friends were fighting for their lives. It was a constant dance of falling unconscious and being healed and falling again. I needed to work fast or they might all die soon. With being shot at and the whirling of the drones blades looming overhead was able to successfully override the controls and the room immediately started venting the vapor and fumes and draining all the sludge. All we had now was a couple ooze and the drone between us and surviving. As I turned to make my way to the rest of the group I felt a shocking pain course through my body as the world went dark for me. I could have sworn I saw MSDOS and the faces of my friends as my life force drifted off to its well earned eternal rest.
Meanwhile the rest of the party barely hanging on to their own lives one by one fell unconscious as footsteps and voices were heard. "Specimen captured", "Protocol initiated". One by one as they came to, the found themselves bound in restraints and brass tubes in the heart of the overseers labs.
