Companion Legacies Companion Legacies allow you to train your animal companion to respond to specialized commands with greater precision. Unlike Familiars, this section introduces abilities related to non-magical companions.
Requirements: Animal Companion (trained), Animal Training.
Combat Rescue (Canines & Riding Mounts) If you are knocked prone or stunned, your companion can drag or carry you to safety.
Better Tracker (Canines) The companion can use Tracking with a +1D10 Bonus Die.
Better Hunter (Canines & Birds) The companion can use Food Gathering with a +1D10 Bonus Die.
Sentry Training (Canines) Companion grants +2 Protection (total +3) when Camping.
Pin & Hold (Canines & Birds) Your beast can be commanded to latch onto an enemy forcing them to roll with Weak Dice for 1 Round once per combat.
Sign Commands (All) You can use hand gestures or command words and sounds to guide your companion.
Disarm & Distract (Canines & Birds) The companion can be trained to snatch weapons, and knock items from hands (Disarm).
Flanking Tactics (Canines & Birds) Your beast can be trained to support your attacks.
Swift Courier (Canines & Birds) Your companion can be trained to deliver messages directly to a person rather than following a set route.
Loyal Guardian (Canines) If you fall to 0 Grit, your beast will immediately defend you, attacking any enemy that approaches. The beast will not retreat unless commanded or severely wounded.
Mounted Combat Bond (Riding Mounts) You and your companion move as one. If your mount is attacked, you may use a Reaction to redirect their movement at Frail Grit and avoid the hit.
Tactical Dismount (Riding Mounts) The companion can swiftly respond to a dangerous situation by dismounting its rider safely, protecting them from Falling Damage at all times.
Mount Defense (Riding Mounts) The companion can put itself between the rider and an incoming attack, giving the rider a 1D10 Absorption bonus at the cost of its own Grit. This can occur automatically oncer per Round without utilizing a Reaction.
Sense Source (Canines & Riding Mounts) The companion can identify poisoned or contaminated sources of food and water and alert its master.
Rider Toss (Riding Mounts) When a hostile rider rides the mount, the horse can spend 1 Action to rear up and throw the rider off forcing a Riding Check (15). It can make the attempt once per Round.
Territorial Defense (Canines) The companion is trained to guard a specific area or territory. If enemies attempt to enter the area without permission, the companion will immediately go on the offensive, gaining Strong Dice for any battle taking place in that area. The companion prevents enemies from moving through the area until they defeat it.
