Karma is a player’s ability to directly influence the narrative of the story. Through Karma, a player can buy out the outcome of their character’s action or reaction—or even affect the actions of another creature. It serves as a protective mechanism that helps players shield their characters from lethal consequences during combat.
Karma Points are earned in-game through roleplaying or by scoring Natural 20s on any roll.
The Game Master awards Karma Points for meaningful roleplaying that aligns with a character’s personality, goals, and background.
These points can later be spent on Karma Effects, which may be activated immediately when needed.
A sample list of Karma Effects is provided below, though each Game Master may create their own.
Hint: Any Natural 20 Roll grants a +1 Karma Bonus, regardless of context (combat, training, skill checks, etc.).
Karma | Effect |
|---|---|
1 | Character Re-roll |
2 | Roll Strong Dice |
3 | Roll with +1D10 Core Die |
4 | Character Maximum Roll |
5 | Make Enemy Re-roll |
Player Characters may combine their Karma Points to confront major threats—if the Game Master permits it.
Pooling Karma allows for powerful, coordinated effects during critical encounters.
