Episode 60 Synopsis

Years before joining the Harbingers, Brill is recruited into the Arcanium by his mentor and receives a ring meant to guide him when he is most wounded. In the present, the ring pulls him from the Twilight Temple to an Arcanium tower near the Aurorius Falls. His mentor reveals that he and the Arcanium's supposed founder were both identities used by Horatio Vinvestler, who has watched Brill for years and now sends him covertly into Felonor, the City of the Wolf. Brill reunites with the Harbingers inside the royal palace, where Whisper learns that he is Jack Valdemar, the king's long-lost son. The name unlocks a childhood memory of the Festival of Drowning: the Tangled One murders his mother, rejects other sacrificed children, and uses their blood and the Dredged to remake Jack as a vessel for one of her own children.

Beneath the palace, the Harbingers enter ruins connected to the Vey and find another piece of the Crystallic suspended above a portal pool. A massive tentacled creature reaches through the water and attacks as the group recovers the fragment. Normandy attempts to use the Dark Scepter, but its malice overwhelms him and forces him to attack Torin. The Harbingers knock Normandy unconscious, while Bjorn takes the scepter and resists its influence. The creature begins collapsing the chamber, destroying the portal as the group escapes. That night, the sea rises around Felonor, ghost ships approach the plateau, and the Tangled One walks through the flooding city. The Harbingers escape aboard experimental gliders, drawing her wrath away from the people below.

Near the inactive Tear, Mathias Ephelthine reveals that Whisper and Ernan are simulacra of the Tangled One's twin children, who were lost at sea long ago. Her earlier vessels survived only briefly before becoming Dredged, but something ancient within Whisper and Ernan's blood has made them different. Mathias claims that the Tangled One joined the Siphon Order and came to Tyve before Zyltrix betrayed the group and left them beneath the Black Sun. He offers the Harbingers an alliance to defeat Draxus Cale, open the Dios Ostium, and reach the center of Tyve. Before disappearing, Mathias gives them an anchor-marked ring to deliver to Horatio if they accept his offer.
