Episode 62 Synopsis

In a memory from Torin's childhood, Valence Avarith brings his young son before the Ithelion and explains that Solaris created the Vey in the image of divine light. Still grieving Torin's mother, Valence prepares to carry a sacred spear across the mountains and end the War of Fang and Fire by destroying the dragons. In the present, the Harbingers return through the Tear to Slyphash, recover a living dragon egg, and discover the refugees and pirates threatened by something moving through the Plague Swamps. Mathias Ephelthine intercepts the group and offers his help. He claims that the Tangled One bound him through an amulet, promises to provide a rune leading into her domain if the Harbingers protect him, and admits that he wants the balance among Tyve's ancient powers tipped in his favor.

The threat in the swamp proves to be Aran Melosis, whose damaged body has begun reforming as part of the land. Mathias offers a permanent solution that would require killing everyone who truly worships the swamp god, but the Harbingers refuse. Aran Melosis attempts to reclaim the Lycans through promises of undeath and the force of their belief. Bjorn counters him by invoking the barbarians' ancestors and the courage to act despite fear. The Lycans reject Aran Melosis and rally around Bjorn, allowing the Harbingers, the pirates, and Mathias to break the god's power. When Bjorn strikes the final blow, he chooses balance instead of damnation. Aran Melosis becomes a luminous Nas Silver tree, the surrounding swamp drains into its roots, and new flowers spread across the restored ground.

The refugees pass through Slyphash's portal toward Keph, while their children and most of the pirates continue to the Twilight Temple. At Keph, the Harbingers find unnatural rain, deep fog, and reports of movement beyond the walls. Ilk warns that leaving through the portal could prevent their return, and the group chooses to remain and defend the keep. An earthquake immediately cracks the gate. A mangled Varian Serpent is thrown from Keph's reservoir, followed by the tentacles of a Charybden large enough to tear apart the passage from below. The Harbingers retreat from the creature after rescuing Ernan from its grasp and race upward toward the Tangled One as the Charybden's eight tentacles search the caverns behind them.
