Episode 55 Synopsis

Deep beneath Keph, the Knights of Ithelias continue exploring the black reservoir after putting its Varian Serpent to sleep. Tara Matthews remains transformed into a fishlike being, while the former prisoner X-Rel Glindor reveals that the Tangled One cast him into the reservoir through a mirror. He claims that her domain lies southwest of the Shattered Isles, beyond the Maelstrom, and can be reached only through a hidden passage with a sufficiently powerful ship. When the knights attempt to cross the lake to a sealed island, the serpent awakens and attacks. They dislodge one of its teeth, use it to activate the island's runes, rescue their wounded companions from the creature's mouth, and escape through the opening as the serpent returns to the water.

Beneath the island, the knights enter an ancient chamber that drains their magic and forms a crystalline guide. The construct welcomes them to a conduit leading toward the hidden isle of Treus, but explains that Tyve's isolation prevents them from completing the journey. A vision carries the knights across the sea toward a jagged rock beneath an unfamiliar constellation and declares that they have been chosen to save Nabell from the Keeper of Ends. The chamber then fails and releases their magic. Beyond it, they discover a shattered silver mirror, chests of powerful gifts, and a transfiguration key that changes shape according to the mind of whoever holds it.

At Slyphash, Torrin confronts the surviving Vey over their plan to drain captive dragons of light, create dark glints, and purge Tyve's present inhabitants. His appeal to hope and a different future awakens memories among the Vey, and their collective remembrance restores another lost member of their people: Nixon. Thalmos rejects Torrin's path and overloads the great crystal beneath the fortress with the dragons' stolen light and darkness. He reaches through the breaking crystal and retrieves a dark scepter, which appears to possess him. Torrin dons the incomplete Crystallic, takes control of one dying dragon, and commands it to consume Thalmos in its final blue fire. The crystal explodes, Torrin and Aronin are struck by the plague, and a fissure carries fire north until Mount Kyphos erupts.
