Episode 66 Synopsis

Within an ancient Veyan citadel in the Sheer Peaks, Torrin and Vyr recover the Spear of Avorinth: also called the Scepter of Valens Avarith, the Spear of the Aphelion, and the Bane of Kypheron. The reforged weapon turns aside dragonfire and marks Torrin as the rightful prince of the forgotten Vey. Ahzarax, an ancient golden dragon and Shield of the Vey, bows to Torrin and pledges to protect him until his homeland is reclaimed from the Keeper of Ends. Although Ahzarax warns that Kypheron's nearness could eventually overwhelm his will, he carries Torrin and Vyr toward Keph.

At Keph, the Chain and its Rusticulum golems overwhelm the defenders. The great golem recognizes Bjorn as the king it once dethroned, but Normandy unleashes Emrys's Deathless Flame before the keep can fall. Chartreuse fire heals the surviving defenders and empowers their weapons, allowing Bjorn to destroy the golem and the armies of Keph to annihilate the Chain. The act consumes Normandy's body and binds his soul within the flame now burning through Bjorn's all-blade, Helvegen. Believing Emrys and the other souls within the flame too dangerous to preserve, Bjorn chooses to let Helvegen burn away. Silas takes the weapon against Bjorn's resistance and becomes the flame's new vessel.

Roughly eighteen hours before the aftermath of the siege, Whisper and Ernan use a coral rune supplied by the Tangled One's imprisoned former servant, whom Whisper calls Agaral, to enter her submerged domain. A bronze amulet reveals another life in which Whisper and Ernan were brothers and sons of the Tangled One, also called Angela Thedon. They traveled into Tyve with Horatio and Mathias Ephelthine under Zyltrix's guidance, seeking something that had to be moved from the island's center to its edge so that unnamed people could find their way home. The Tangled One takes control of Ernan and commands him to kill Whisper, but Whisper reaches his brother through their shared memories. Together, they wield Whisper's divine crossbow from Kellis and destroy her. Her death calms the sea, ends the Festival of Drowning, weakens the Dredged, and stabilizes the brothers' intertwined lives.
