Cassara is one of the Nine Ladies of the Aurethian faith, the divine Lady of Law and Order. Within Aurethian belief, she governs law, justice, courts, civic order, legitimate authority, oaths, contracts, and the obligations created by public office. Judges, magistrates, lawmakers, officials, witnesses, and those entering solemn agreements commonly pray to her. Her virtue in the Precepts of the Nine is Duty, while her corresponding sin is Caprice, the abuse or abandonment of obligation in favor of personal whim.

Cassara is traditionally depicted as a tall woman of about forty with an erect posture, angular features, olive complexion, dark brown eyes, and straight black hair parted precisely in the center and bound into a heavy braided crown. She wears a long, restrained robe beneath a broad mantle fastened squarely at the shoulders. Her expression is composed rather than stern. Statues often show her holding a closed tablet against her chest, representing law already established rather than rules invented to suit the moment.
