Cerena is one of the Nine Ladies of the Aurethian faith, the divine Lady of Farming. Her domain includes both crops and domesticated animals: cultivated soil, planting, harvest, orchards, livestock, husbandry, grazing, and the practical fertility upon which settled life depends. Farmers, shepherds, herders, and rural communities commonly invoke her. Her virtue is Stewardship, the care of things that sustain life and productive work. Her sin is Waste, needless destruction, neglect, spoilage, or exhaustion of useful resources.
Cerena is traditionally depicted as a broad-shouldered woman in her middle forties with the strong build of a lifelong laborer, a thick waist, powerful hands, freckled sun-browned skin, green eyes, and coarse dark-blonde hair tied into a heavy braid. Her square face is visibly weathered around the eyes. She wears plain working clothes with her sleeves rolled above the elbows. Grain and domesticated animals frequently accompany her, emphasizing that livestock belongs to her sphere just as fully as crops.
