Solkharah, the City of Shining Light, can best be described as a glittering oasis in a fiery desert, a haven as industrious as it is studious. The lava flows streaming from the Great Temple of Ykariot cut through the surrounding sands like a moat and are the secret to the city's renowned glass making. Elsewhere in this oasis, the Collegia continue their scholarly pursuits and maintain the burning arrays known as the Eyes of Ykariot. Solkharah's people are naturally curious and prone to heated discussions as many are either artisans or academics. What's more, many of the city's inhabitants are Cinderkin or Stellari.
Solkharah is the home of the Great Temple to Ykariot, god of Light and Fire.
The population of Solkharah is primarily comprised of Cinderkin and Stellari.
The city of Solkharah is an oasis in the desert, with beautiful palm trees, lush greens and pools of water dotting the city. While Solkharah always had access to lava deposits deep under the city, the nearby volcano that exploded during the Cataclysm created a lava moat around most of the city. The weather here is typically hot and dry, but the landscape frequently experiences sandstorms due to the winds coming off the nearby mountains.
Solkharah takes its inspiration and influence from Moorish Spain and other such regions, Dorne from A Song of Ice and Fire, the Redguard from Elder Scrolls, and the Haradrim, with light and loose clothing of yellows, oranges, and reds adorned in ornate trinkets and jewelry.
Solkharah is the major exporter of glass and glassware for the Kingdom. There is also a strong academic presence here with the Collegia, which places heavy emphasis on the spiritual/poetic field as well as the sciences.
Historically, Solkharah was ruled by a noble family whose head took on the title of Grand Vizier. However, since the Cataclysm, the Curator and Professors of the Collegia have been the effective leaders of the Enclave. Decisions and conflicts are delegated to relevant Professors to resolve as subject-matter experts according to proven principles and careful research. The Curator meanwhile handles day-to-day administration and mediates between the constituent schools. The Curator appoints new Professors from the members of the Collegia. The members of the Collegia in turn are responsible for electing the Curator. The actions of the Curator and the Professors in regard to the Enclave are reviewed by fellow scholars on a regular basis. It is not uncommon for these reviews to turn into academic debates as Professors have to back up their decisions with empirical evidence and rigorous proofs.
Travel across the lands of Solkharah is done primarily by camelback.
Solkharah is not fallen. Solkharah's primary defenses include diverted lava moats surrounding the outskirts of the city and large glass magnification arrays to set hordes of Bloodless ablaze using the sun’s rays.
