Description

Susisaari, the Hidden City, lies beneath the ice plateau of the far north. Nearly impossible to find unless guided by one who has been there, the city and its environs make a suitable home for the Great Temple of Navtix. In its eternal shadow, the syndicates of Susisaari vie for influence and control, even as their hunters make nightly journeys to the snows above to contend with the great beasts of the snowy tundras by moonlight. The people of this frozen land are known for a certain eccentricity and guile despite their generally cold demeanor. No particular lineage is more represented here than the others as most inhabitants are those don't necessarily want or care to be found.

The Great Temple

Susisaari is the home of the Great Temple to Navtix, god of Shadow and Trickery.

Demographics

Susisaari has no primary lineage demographic, it is mostly comprised those who don't necessarily want or care to be found.

Weather and Landscape

The land around Susisaari is tundra, snowy plains with the mountains as backdrop, windy and very very cold. There are nearly constant blizzard conditions here. Susisaari does have a connection to the sea, although it is frozen during winter.

Aesthetic

Susisaari takes its inspiration and influence from the medieval Norse though muted in expression, the Nords of Skyrim, and the Night's Watch from A Song of Ice and Fire, with many dark furs and pelts over equally dark fabrics.

Industry/Economy

Susisaari has a Hunter-Gatherer type of society, primarily furs and meat from hunting large northern beasts. The Pinejacks who bring felled evergreens down from the mountains are afforded as much respect as the Tundra-runners who take to the snowfields to hunt the great beasts by moonlight. As the daylight hours are consumed by near-constant blizzards, only the nights are calm enough to allow travel in this desolate realm.

Mercenary companies and fishing along the coast are not uncommon occupations.

Government

For much of its history, Susisaari has been controlled by several syndicates who vie for influence and control over the city's various warrens and domains. Internal conflicts over territory are common; although since the Cataclysm, a tenuous stalemate has existed between the five most prominent syndicates. The "chieftains" of these crime families meet in what's known as the Notthing ("the night meeting") to mediate disputes and oversee the activities of its members. Each chieftain is entitled to a vote on matters and none are held above the others. To maintain the peace, the Notthing embraces the Susisaari founding mantra: "all are equal in the shadows".

Some syndicates, like the Skygge and the Hvisla, can trace their roots to the original founding of the city, others emerged from the outcasts and exiles that came to the city later. For instance, the Sinter were formed largely by immigrants from Dholrim, while the Gryla originally had a strong Aquitalian heritage, and the Vuohi were started by exiles from Mer'thalass.

Primary mode of transportation

Travel across the lands of Susisaari is primarily done with dog sleds on land. When it is not winter, mercenaries and merchants travel south with ships at sea.

Is this Enclave Fallen?

Susisaari is not Fallen. Susisaari's primary defenses include the constant blizzard environment, the fact that it's an underground city (which protects them from large swarm attacks), and a highly trained populous with high concentration of hunters and survivalists.
