Veins of Altoria

The Veins of Altoria, or simply the Veins, are the vast undercity beneath Altoria, a labyrinth of ancient tunnels, collapsed ruins, old sewers, and catacombs that appears on no surface map. It is where adventurers, fugitives, smugglers, and those with no place above converge, drawn by the dungeon whose entrance, the Endless Abyss, sits at its heart. The air is damp and heavy with earth and old stone, water drips through the dark, and torchlight throws long shadows across crumbling masonry. Markets, hideouts, and small settlements have grown up in the larger chambers, trading rare goods, magical items, and information, though trust is scarce and betrayal is just another currency. The deeper one descends, the more unstable the passages and the more dangerous the things that have claimed the dark. Access is controlled at the fortified Iron Gate in the Ironclad Ward, while smugglers and the desperate slip in through hidden wells, broken sewer grates, and the haunted Forgotten Stair.
