Shadowgrove

Shadowgrove is the poorest and most neglected district of Altoria, a maze of crumbling buildings, narrow alleys, and refuse where poverty, crime, and decay shape daily life. The streets are badly lit and hazardous, from broken cobblestones to traps set by desperate thieves, and the air carries the smell of rot and smoke. Its residents are the city's outcasts and forgotten, hardened by circumstance and wary of strangers. Gangs control much of the district's activity, yet pockets of solidarity endure, and neighbors rely on one another to survive where few others will venture. For many, Shadowgrove is both home and trap, a place from which escape feels impossible.

A grimy, dimly lit tavern of watered-down ale and frequent brawls, where mercenaries and criminals are hired for underhanded jobs and information trades for the right price.

Black Market Alley.
An ever-shifting network of hidden stalls and whispered deals selling poisons, stolen goods, cursed relics, forged coin, information, and hired muscle, relocating constantly to stay ahead of the guard.

Blackthorne Chamber.
A roving, hidden den of cursed relics and forbidden lore where the sage Mordecai Blackthorne breaks curses, wards against dark forces, and trades occult knowledge, always at a price.

Flea's Wares.
A roving street stall of spoiled food, dubious herbs, and salvaged rags run by a wiry hustler named Flea, a last resort for the desperate and an informal hub for gossip.

A cramped scrap shop where the gnoll Grimjaw resells salvaged tools, broken weapons, and odd trinkets, and will quietly fence stolen goods.

Midnight Exchange.
A hidden pawn shop of stolen heirlooms, cursed artifacts, and dangerous magic, its unmarked door found only by those who know the sigil. Run by Alezra Nightrun and Morbox Plaguemaw.

Scavenger's Satchel.
A cluttered general store, now boarded up and abandoned after its owner fled, its door scored with unsettling claw-like marks.

Shadow's Bite Apothecary.
A ramshackle herb shop of affordable remedies and less wholesome wares, where the proprietor knows her chaotic stock by heart. Run by Lora Mosswynd.

The Shattered Blade.
A blacksmith's shop where broken weapons are reforged into crude tools of survival by the gruff dwarf Durnan Ironvein, who charges little but demands favors in return.

Tattered Cloak.
A second-hand clothing shop of patched cloaks and worn boots run by a kind-hearted tailor who takes in orphaned children and gives them work.

Rat's Nest.
A collapsing flophouse where Shadowgrove's poorest crowd into damp, disease-ridden rooms, long a breeding ground for gangs and thugs.

Blighted Well.
A crumbling, abandoned well whose black water and sickly green mist mark it as cursed, shunned by animals and locals alike.

Broken Chapel.
A ruined chapel of shattered stained glass and splintered pews that still offers a quiet, dignified refuge from the dangers outside.

Cursed Coin.
A hidden gambling den beneath a derelict tenement where the desperate wager their last coin on rigged games, and those caught cheating are never seen again.

Forgotten Plaza.
A derelict square ringed by broken statues, its rune-etched central mosaic pulsing with old power and drawing secretive dealings after dark.

Gaunt House.
A grand house once used as a base by an information broker, now shunned as corrupted and dangerous, said to be held by darker forces.

The Raven's Masquerade.
A secretive, dimly lit establishment of velvet curtains and hidden passages where masked patrons and performers indulge in anonymity.
