A free city before the Crimson Empire was formed under the Vaulik family, the city is situated near the western edge of the empire on the foothills of the Kosmosi Mountains.

Next to the small Howlight forest, the city has a major lumber and forestry industry. The city was built around the small river called Bentcastle Creek, which eventually joins the Everbloom River.

The city switched to a more democratic rule after the tyrannical King Vaulik was killed by his own hunters in 3E138.
