Chronostone Shield

This chronostone-adamantine shield-weapon was forged by Ingrid Rennwald at the College of Zaubarovia when she captured lightning under the watchful eye of a master spellsmith. It has the insignia of House Rennwald on it. Later on, she called the shield Havoc Fang. She eventually replaced it with the legendary spear Krajul, although she still owns it.

Since then, there have been other chronostone shields made of varying rarities.

Properties

Striking Chronostone Shield

Weapon (Martial Melee Weapon), 2d4 Bludgeoning Damage, Two-Handed, Mastery (Topple), Rare (Requires Attunement)

This deceptively light metal shield is made of a unique alloy of adamantine and chronostone, a blue metal that can harness temporal energy. This shield can be both worn as armor granting +2 AC and used as a weapon at the same time, but cannot be used alongside another weapon or shield. You are however considered to have a free hand while not attacking with the shield. Additionally, you require Proficiency with both shields and martial weapons to use this shield. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.

This shield can also be used as a thrown weapon (Range 20/60). After each thrown attack roll, the shield phases and rewinds back in time to return to your hand. If you get hit while the shield is not on your person, from an attack of opportunity for example, you do not gain the AC bonus from the shield.

Stunning Chronostone Shield

Weapon (Martial Melee Weapon), 2d4 Bludgeoning Damage, Two-Handed, Mastery (Topple), Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

This variant of the weapon with upgraded rarity has all the same features as before with the following new additions:

Stunning Power. The bonus to your attack and damage rolls increases to +2. On a hit, you now deal an additional 1d4 Thunder damage.

Interceptor. You can cast the Shield spell a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus from the shield, regaining all uses after the next dawn. When you cast the Shield spell from this shield, you can choose to target a creature of your choice within 5 feet of you instead of yourself if they are hit by an attack or targeted by the Magic Missile spell.

Illustrious Chronostone Shield

Weapon (Martial Melee Weapon), 2d4 Bludgeoning Damage, Two-Handed, Mastery (Topple), Legendary (Requires Attunement)

This variant of the weapon with upgraded rarity has all the same features as before with the following new additions:

Illustrious Power. The bonus to your attack and damage rolls increases to +3, and the additional damage increases to 2d4 Thunder damage. Moreover, your AC bonus increases to +3.

Chronostone Protection. As a Magic Action, you can overcharge the shield to retaliate against all attacks for 10 minutes. You gain Resistance to Thunder damage for the duration. Additionally, whenever a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, the shield reverberates loudly and the attacker takes 2d8 Thunder damage. This property of the shield cannot be used again until next dawn.
