Makal Island, also known as Makaru (マカル), is a large island in the middle of the Blood Sea. It is currently within the domain of the Cinoh Shogunate, but has long been a free pirate island for centuries and they have little control over it. It's strategic location is sought after by all the nearby naval powers. The only major settlement on the island is the city of Tikius. The northeastern tip of the island houses the Silver Songbird Rummery.
The island has a large volcano known as Mt. Ashskull. The city is protected from Mt. Ashskull since the lava generally flows west instead of east into the city. It was discovered recently that Ashskull and the island of Makal in its entirety are simply the exposed top of a much larger supervolcano underneath the sea.
