Last we left off…
The towering Silver Gates of Gelnara loomed ahead, heavily guarded by soldiers holding the dreaded "Mirrors of Truth." Yet, thanks to a flawlessly forged Royal Charter, the party bypassed the blockade with barely a second glance. You were officially inside the "Gilded Cage."
However, the city proved just as complicated on the inside. Looking for lodging through a contact of Cipher's, you discovered the city is packed to the brim for an upcoming Royal Wedding, leaving every tavern completely sold out. Tensions from the road finally boiled over, leading Ryo to splinter off for a solo walk and some shopping.
After regrouping with Ryo, the party sought out Erynn's esteemed contact: Obridiah Suun. Wealthy, enigmatic, and occupying a massive, impossible shop in the Verdant Rise, Obridiah's intense demeanor left many of you feeling off-put. Nevertheless, his hospitality was absolute—he offered the weary group free rooms to stay in at his shop. You finally have a safe harbor, but at what cost?
The Royal Wedding: The city is currently overflowing with nobles, diplomats, and travelers attending an upcoming, highly publicized wedding. This has caused a massive housing shortage across all districts.
Gelnaran Kitsune: Ryo learned that the Kitsune native to Gelnara and the Thres Protectorate are culturally distinct from those of his home plane of Taeavor, having adapted completely to life within this walled society.
The Unseen Threat: Witnessing the local Kitsune get arrested and dragged away for questioning was a stark reminder that despite making it through the gates, shapechangers and magic-users are under intense, dangerous scrutiny here.
Cipher's Contact: An associate in the city who tried to help the party find rooms, only to confirm that the city is completely booked.
The Arrested Kitsune: Two locals whose true forms were revealed. Ryo managed to speak with them briefly before they were taken for questioning.
Obridiah Suun: Erynn's benefactor. A wealthy, larger-than-life human man from Khatia. While he was incredibly generous and offered free lodging, his enigmatic nature left the rest of the party feeling uneasy.
Free Lodging: The party has secured high-end, free rooms within the safety of The Suun Collection in the Verdant Rise.
