Description

The ports of Stormhaven have long histories, but have always been important. They are primarly used for trade and as a forward base against pirates from Anfyn. They are also commonly used to travel from one district to the next.

Ownership is split between the Navigators' Guild and private enterprise, with military infrastructure and the older ports being owned by the Navigators, and newer ports being owned by local aristocrats or the Eldritch Inquisition.

Architecture

The architecture of the ports is distinctive. The older ports were constructed during the Guild Golden Age. As such, they are old, human infrastructure - though they have been well-maintained over the years. The newer ports - those built after the destruction of Torrica - tend to be more luxurious, and are styled in Elven fashion.

Commerce

The prosperity Stormhaven enjoys is made possible by exporting industrial goods from the Ironclad District and importing luxury magical goods from Brell. The increase in trade has gathered renewed interest from pirates, which has made reinforcing the naval base more important than it's been in years.

Military Presence

There is a strong presence of the Navigators Guild here. They use these ports as a basis from which to launch operations against Anfyn pirates, and have a command center on the Unnamed Island

Points of Interest

  • Might want to note which harbors are the oldest ones here, to avoid inconsistencies.

  • The large harbors in Sunnyspire possibly deserve their own name.

  • Barracks on the Unnamed Island

  • Possibly add something about shipbuilding here - I don't actually know who's writing the Shipwright's Guild. If someone's writing the Shipwright's Guild. Regardless, it would make sense to have at least some shipbuilding activity in the most industrialized and politically relevant city in Kildar.
-Pavel - completely agreed, but I am quite sure that nobody works on them:(

  • I haven't actually checked the timeline of events. I imagine it's mostly right, but don't expect rigorous citations.
-Pavel - I wouldn't worry about this, sounds fine. Maybe Ids can check later.

  • I wasn't quite sure in which of the five inner city districts the ports would fit best. Based on the map, I thought it'd be Sunnyspire Quarter due to the shared proximity to Jarad University. But the bustling docks might clash a bit with the upscale image residents of Sunnyspire wish to project.
I also briefly considered the island in the entrance of the bay, with the barracks, but it does not appear to be named.
-Pavel - I am also not sure. I had an idea, but we would need to change the map. The idea is that there is actually a small port in most of the districts and people use them for faster travelling because I can imagine it takes a lot of times to walk from bottom part to the upper one.

  • If there's anything else, please contact me on Whatsapp, 'cause I'll probably forget to check on this later.

  • Pavel - I liked the idea of the foolish move of the Navigators' guild. We could make that Eldritch inquisition actually got some more influence because of this and maybe one or few of the ports are under their control now.

  • We should probably think of a name for the Unnamed Island.
