The First Books of Magic

In hidden circles, a secretive guild delved into forbidden lore. From those shadowed halls emerged the Books of First Magic—tomes containing spells rivaling the power of gods. Their earliest obsession was necromancy: bridging the veil between life and death, tearing open gates between dimensions.
Four wizards refused to abandon the work when fear scattered the rest:

Their final ritual succeeded beyond their nightmares. They summoned Nedel, the Hunter—an entity no mortal circle could bind. The Great War began, and the world would never be the same.
The Legacy of Misandria and Meriel Roserise
When the war ended, the Books of First Magic passed to Misandria Thiaspis. She bore Nedel’s monstrous offspring—the Children of Chaos—and died in childbirth. With her dying breath, she entrusted the books to Meriel Roserise, a witch already renowned for single-handedly holding back the horrors spilling from the Crater.
Meriel’s power was terrifying and beautiful. Monsters fell before her spells; survivors flocked to her banner. When she claimed the First Books, her strength became legend.
She did not hoard that knowledge.
In the newly founded kingdom of Rose, Meriel built the world’s first academies of magic. For the first time, spellcraft was taught openly—systematically—to any with talent and will. No longer the privilege of gods-touched loners or secretive cults, magic became a discipline, a craft, a weapon available to all.
