The Great War

The Great War

As the lure of the Meteor’s power grew irresistible, more gods poured into Vitallia. The Sentinel fought alone at first, hurling storms and earthquakes against the divine invaders, but still they came.

In desperation, the Titan shaped the first mortals from earth and fire—humankind and the other kindred races—beseeching their aid. Free will was their gift and their curse; some fought for the Sentinel, others for the gods who promised them glory.

The war scarred the world. Continents cracked, oceans boiled, mountains rose and fell in a single day. Mortal peoples fled to the Forklands or scattered to the edges of creation while the gods clashed above them.

Key Events of the Great War

  • The Amar
The Elves followed Laira the Phoenix eastward; she fell in battle only to rise reborn in flame.
The Dwarves marched north behind Kargor, clutching fragments of the meteor carved into the legendary Runik Stone.

  • The Seven Wizards and the Fatal Summons
Four sibling sorcerers — Taarum, Sokar, Akreyn, and Misandria Thiaspis — together with three others, penned the Books of First Magic, spells of terrifying power. Believing they could end the war, the four opened a gate to an alien dimension and called for a god strong enough to dominate all others.
    Four answered.
    Only one stepped through.
Nedel, the Hunter—exiled, starving, and utterly merciless—emerged laughing. The wizards had not summoned a servant. They had unleashed a conqueror.

  • The Alliance Against Darkness
Three knights who had traveled with Nedel — Justar, Solisis, and Arkallis — broke from their former master and warned the peoples of Lothen. Gods and mortals alike saw the truth: Nedel would claim Vitallia or burn it to ash.
Maldagar, goddess of earth, knelt before the Sentinel and offered peace. For the first time, the Titan and the divine stood together.

Yet even united, they could not match Nedel.
His black sword carved wounds in the land that never healed. He summoned legions of bound souls from forgotten hells. Gods fell or fled. Mortals perished by the millions. Vitallia itself began to die.

At the final hour, the Sentinel made its terrible choice.

Drawing the last of its strength, the Titan tore an entire continent from the world and wove a prison of living Amber around it. Nedel and every soul upon that doomed land were dragged screaming into the Amber Cell—sealed away, mutated, enslaved forever to the Hunter’s will.

With Nedel imprisoned, the war ended.
The gods, humbled, swore never again to claim the meteor’s heart.
The Sentinel withdrew to the Crater to sleep and heal the broken world.
The gods remained—not as conquerors, but as guides.

Thus closed the Age of the Hunter.
The Age of the Guardian began.
