The War of the Silver Moon was one of the defining conflicts of the Second Age, waged across the ancient land of Avalia (now called Mooncry).

It began when Nedel’s children—twisted offspring of the ancient evil—slipped past the crumbling Amber Wall in the west and infiltrated Avalia, seeking to corrupt and dominate the Mainland once more.

Opposing them stood the Avalians: proud refugees who had won their freedom from Lothen after the Great War under the leadership of Istar Avalian. For nearly two centuries they had built a new home beneath the silver light of the moon—until Nedel’s spawn came to claim it.

What followed was a long and brutal war that lasted from 20 SA to 209 SA. Entire cities burned under unnatural eclipses. Shadow fought silver steel on blood-soaked fields. In the crucible of this endless struggle, the Avalians themselves were transformed—body and soul—giving birth to a new people: the Serenians, children of the moon.

From the fires of this war rose some of Vitallia’s greatest legends:

• Folkoner Nemaris, the unbreakable shield of the west

• Evairon the Messiah, whose light would one day guide the world

When the final battle ended in 209 SA, Nedel’s children were driven back into the dark or destroyed. Avalia lay in ruins—yet from its ashes rose the kingdom of Mooncry, forever marked by silver scars and moonlit resolve.
