Rosian Houses
Houses do exist in Rose, but they do not operate like the noble families of feudal kingdoms.
Political authority is never inherited by blood. Every Archmage is appointed directly by the Queen, and Archmages in turn may assign Magelords to oversee towers, Thornholds, or rural regions. However, all such titles remain conditional, granted or revoked at the Queen’s discretion, or by an empowered Archmage acting in her name.
Rosian Houses instead compete through arcane prestige, loyal service, public trials, and distinguished military record to place their members in positions of authority. While leadership does not pass automatically to the next of kin, great Houses that have faithfully served the Queen for generations often see their heirs selected first, so long as their merit, loyalty, and magical discipline meet Rosian standards.
In this way, Houses remain influential dynasties, not through bloodright, but through the excellence and allegiance of the mages they produce.

Lore: The monarch of the kingdom and probably the most powerful witch of Vitallia. As one of the few immortals of the world, she is considered to be among the eldest individuals, and among a handful of people that were present during the Battle of the Gods and still lives. She has studied the First Books of Magic and is worshiped as a Goddess by her people. She made magic the prior force of the kingdom and the highest of virtues, and helps in maintaining an ancient tradition of cultivating magic and its properties.

In a brutal confrontation with the rebels, she reclaimed several ancient territories that the Altheda had secretly dominated, rallying Rosian forces to her cause. Her victory shifted the balance of power, earning her House great prestige. Queen Meriel honored House Othorian for its service, and Medistra was soon elevated to Archmage of Larkon.

Lore: House Otres contributed greatly to the creation of the Paraurum in 504 AC. Marcus Otres proposed the plan to the Queen and executed it by placing a thousand runes along the giant gate’s surface to contain the golem. Queen Meriel rewarded Marcus and made him lord of Othantis for his services. The members of House Otres share an affection for Runes and Enchantments. They are powerful wizards who specialized in creating powerful items that enhance their abilities. Many Otres members were also members of the Roseguard and some of them crafted their own swords. House Otres is one of Rose’s oldest and most powerful Houses. However, when Belus Otres declared the Queen of Rose a dictator and a monarch that poisons the kingdom, he fled to the Moonwoods and formed the Wizards of Altheda, a rebellious clan that aims to overthrow the Queen. Belus’s actions wounded the House’s reputation greatly, and the Otres name has lost a great part of its former glory.
