Episode 40 Glossary

Torrin: Uses the Crystallic to reunite Rue's divided forms, becomes fully corporeal, destroys the Dredged through a Veyan light mechanism, and performs Kiera's funeral rite.
Rue: Restored as a living Veyan boy when his lightless and shadowless halves merge. His divided memories fade, but he recognizes Torrin and keeps the name Rue.
Bjorn: Defeats the first guardian of Helvegen, mourns Kiera, commits her body to the water, and accepts a golden apple that may cure his niece.
Kiera: Companion from the Shattered Isles who attacks the Dredged beneath the ice and dies in the attempt. Her final message assures Bjorn that she can rest now that the creature is gone.
Normandy Borthal: Chooses to receive the Deathless Flame so that he can resist Mathias and help defeat the Blood Sorcerers. His life is drained as the flame engulfs him.
Mathias Ephelthine: The wizard controlling Normandy through his book. He attacks Normandy from afar when Normandy reaches for the Deathless Flame.
Last Heir of Dragdah: Ancient bearer of the Deathless Flame who waits in the deepest chamber, tests the Harbingers, offers them his power, and fades when Normandy takes it.
Dalia: Bjorn's niece, who suffers from the Walking Rot. The ancient flame bearer claims that his golden apple can cure her.

Sethis: Goddess of twilight whose faith balances light with death. Torrin senses that using the chamber's concentrated light alone may violate that balance.
Cellus: Prismatic dragon god of dreams invoked by Bjorn during Kiera's burial. Bjorn asks that she receive the joyful warrior's afterlife honored by his people.
Veyan Faith: The restored chamber and its artifacts preserve a tradition divided between light, shadow, memory, and twilight. Torrin remains unsure how his people split along those paths.

Harbingers of Light: Continue through Dragdah with Rue, survive the assault in the frozen hall, honor Kiera, and descend to the bearer of the Deathless Flame.
Forgotten Dead of Dragdah: Undead guardians who test Bjorn as part of an ancestral pilgrimage associated with Helvegen.
Blood Sorcerers of Keth: Servants of Acuras whom the flame bearer identifies as vulnerable to the Deathless Flame because their blood is lifeless.
The Vey: Torrin and Rue's forgotten people. Their recovered chamber demonstrates that Veyan art, technology, and living things can return when enough of their existence is remembered.
Dredged: Creatures connected to the sacrifices and suffering of Kiera's people. The enormous specimen beneath Dragdah's ice is destroyed by the Veyan light mechanism.

Dredged Sea Creature: Massive aquatic predator concealed beneath the illusory ice. It kills Kiera before Torrin annihilates it with concentrated Veyan light.
Reanimated Sea Monster: Colossal dead creature in the Deathless Flame chamber. Its body begins to move when Normandy accepts the flame.
Veyan Rose: Living prismatic flower restored beside Rue. Its fragrance can help a person recover a memory, though it cannot revive the unconscious.
Rock Bird Spirit: Soul trapped within a small statue. Whisper breaks the vessel, releases the spirit, and is freed from his fear-of-heights curse.
Shadowless Undead: Hostile remnants concealed by the black hall's illusion. They join the battle after the false ice and walls are exposed.

Crystallic: Broken Veyan artifact Torrin uses to merge Rue's lightless and shadowless halves into one living person.
Helvegen: Bjorn's all-blade. A scythe component from the defeated guardian fuses with it, strengthens the weapon, and adds a new form.
Veyan Light Mechanism: Pillars and a central crystal that channel power from glints into a devastating beam. Torrin overloads it to destroy the Dredged.
Statue of Sethis: Relic found among the chamber's offerings. It functions as a key connected to the dark path within the Temple of Twilight.
Tooth of Kypheron: Ancient dragon tooth that grants resistance to fire. Destroying it can maximize the damage of a spell once.
Orb of Power: Single-use sphere capable of casting a spell of seventh level or lower without material components.
Golden Apple: Fruit produced by the flame bearer and entrusted to Bjorn. He claims it can cure Dalia's Walking Rot.
Soul-Siphoning Chalices: Broken tentacled vessels in Dragdah's lowest chamber. The flame bearer says they retain remnants of the people destroyed during the stronghold's fall.

Veyan Restoration: Rue's reunion restores both his body and a vanished section of Veyan reality. His recognition of Torrin also stabilizes Torrin's own physical existence.
Lightless and Shadowless Division: Rue existed as two incomplete beings aligned with opposing aspects of lost Veyan power until the Crystallic joined them.
Deathless Flame: Chartreuse fire that preserves life beyond death and can harm the Lifeless Blood. Its bearer must accept transformation into something undead.
Funeral Rite: Torrin surrounds Kiera with connected golden runes, restores her appearance, and prevents her body from being raised as undead for seven days.
Speech Through the Veil: Magic allows Kiera's departing soul to answer one final question and send Bjorn a farewell from the threshold of the afterlife.
Memory Through Scent: The Veyan rose can awaken a single lost or buried memory when its fragrance is deliberately used for that purpose.

Dragdah: Ancient frozen stronghold of the Dregda Moor and site of Bjorn's ancestral pilgrimage.
Black Hall: Chamber hidden beneath illusions of ice and darkness. It contains Helvegen's guardians, shadowless undead, a Dredged beast, and Veyan machinery.
Veyan Restoration Chamber: Area where Rue is reunited and part of the vanished Veyan world returns around him.
Deathless Flame Chamber: Deep funerary room containing broken chalices, bones, a ruined arch, a sarcophagus, a dead sea monster, and the ancient flame bearer.
Temple of Twilight: Distant sanctuary to which the newly recovered statue of Sethis appears to belong.
Nabell's Beyond: The unknowable realm toward which Kiera's soul is drawn. She briefly perceives a white shore and waiting figures before passing on.

Restoration of Rue: The joining of Rue's two halves proves that a divided Vey can be made whole and that recognition between Vey can restore what history erased.
Pilgrimage of Helvegen: Bjorn's victory over the first guardian begins the all-blade's recovery. Additional dead guardians remain connected to later stages of the trial.
Death of Kiera: Kiera gives her life fighting a creature tied to her people's suffering and to Helena's rescue. Her death profoundly affects Bjorn and the Harbingers.
Fall of the Dregda Moor: The flame bearer describes a schism that led many of Dragdah's people to death and left their remnants within broken siphoning vessels.
Succession of the Flame: The last heir of Dragdah has carried the Deathless Flame for centuries. Normandy's acceptance appears to release him from that duty.
Normandy's Defiance: By choosing the flame, Normandy directly challenges Mathias's control even though Mathias can drain his life from afar.
