Episode 51 Synopsis

Twenty-five years earlier, the survivors of Norn reach Tyve's southern coast with the Chain only hours behind them. Bjorn divides his people among the captured ships, the ancient land bridge, and a final defensive force while the four-year-old Whisper and his older brother Ernan secretly approach the evacuation. Draxus Cale arrives at the head of the Chain, topples one of the Stones of the Old Gods, and demands that the brothers return home. Whisper reaches a ship, but Ernan is left behind during the battle. Draxus declares himself a fallen Paladarium, drives his birthright sword into the earth, and destroys the land bridge beneath hundreds of fleeing Nornians. Magna Neva protects Whisper aboard the ship, while Ernan survives on the coast and promises that he will find his brother again.

In the present, Whisper recovers the memory after Ernan burns to death in the Twilight Temple while breaking the Chain's hold. Helena uses a single-use orb to summon seven ancestral Dreg'Damor spirits, who restore Ernan to life without the Chain's scars. Ernan admits that he stole Piln's light, erased the Harbingers' memories, killed Martha, injured several companions, and manipulated the group while Draxus watched through him. He explains that Draxus built the Chained Fortress around the Dios Ostium and destroys anyone who fails to open it. Whisper and Ernan may be two parts of a repeating cycle connected to the Chained City, and Ernan believes they have lived and died on Tyve before. Although he warns that Draxus has reached his full power, Whisper refuses to flee and vows to free the Chain's other victims.

After completing the chief's journey, Bjorn returns to the ruins of Norn, recovers an ancestral book of alchemical recipes, and follows the shrikes into the Staring Woods. At the grove where he once pledged himself to Bjork's mother, a young Shadow Claw archer shoots him and identifies himself as Bjork, the son Bjorn never knew. Bjorn reunites with Bjork's mother and learns that she raised their son after the Nornians rejected them both. She releases Bjorn from his old oath but promises to take him back if he survives his larger duty. Bjork agrees to accompany his father, though he remains furious over Bjorn's absence. At the Twilight Temple, the Librarian reports that Traeus may be an ancient city or continent lost beneath the sea and connected to the vanished lesser isle of Teldoroth. The Harbingers prepare to seek Zandra while waiting for Bjorn and his newly discovered son to return.
