Episode 19 Glossary

Zress: Older Umtheran woman from Vyr's past who teaches her to harvest giant-spider blood and introduces her to true Rubrum Vinec.
Ildren: Vyr's uncle, who reveals the truth about Syl'Vyr and sends Vyr toward Tyve with instructions concerning Demantrius.
Syl'Vyr: Vyr's grandmother. Her supposed exile concealed a political assassination ordered because her powers threatened Ryphus.
Demantrius: Last known Umtheran to wield Vyr's form of ethomancy. Ryphus exiled him to Tyve in a metal ship, and he may now be either a mentor or a feral threat.
Zharls Huckley: Talkative offender forced to serve as a scarecrow after stealing tomatoes. He transported the suspect barrels and joins the company into Malben.
Gyle Molberry: Wealthy owner of much of Malben, including the infected mills. Though abrasive, he is strangely likable and ultimately permits the mills to be burned.
Puck: Gyle's assistant, visibly sick after entering the contaminated mills.
Bucky: Mill worker exposed to the tainted grain and black growth.
Unknown Vey: Black-clad figure at the edge of Malben whose yellow eyes and facial features identify him as one of Torin's people.

Sethis: Goddess of Twilight and sovereign of the Evenfall. Her shadowed presence uses the four stone Vey and Torin's forgotten strength to contain the Dark Scepter.
Umtheras: God of Shadow and divine source invoked by Ildren when preparing Vyr to survive entry into Tyve.
Golden Knot: Thrice-rooted divine tree said to bind the Evenfall together after Sethis fell. A vast golden tree drips luminous sap across the realm.
Nameless God: Unnamed power worshiped by whatever force stands behind the Dark Scepter. The presence in the Evenfall fears this master more than the lives imprisoned within the artifact.

Yore and Gander: Shipping company whose ouroboros-marked barrels carried black glints into the garn fields and mills of Malben.
Plague Court: Masked authorities operating from Malben's apothecary and empowered to isolate or kill suspected plague victims.
Gardeners of Malben: Agricultural workers who burn roughly one third of the garn fields after black mold spreads through the crop.
Gavran Caravan Detail: Maxis, Silas, and Nicias continue escorting the party toward Piln after the detour to Ephthalas.

Giant Spiders of Cadavercia: Enormous spiders whose venom, eggs, and blood are harvested by Vyr and Zress.
Squeaver: Large, fat creature resembling a squirrel crossed with a beaver. Torin names one Bjuurl before killing it with sacred flame.
Bjuurl: Name Torin gives the squeaver used as bait during the company's roadside hunt.
Braxton: Huge bear-like animal with boar tusks. Its meat is poisonous until Torin purifies it.
Black Mold and Webbing: Fast-spreading contamination that consumes Malben's grain, climbs the mill walls, and sickens exposed workers.
Odo: Bjorn's recovered wolf, traveling with the company and refusing to participate in the hunt.

Rubrum Vinec: Umtheran wine made from giant-spider blood. Vyr survives a true vintage despite its lethal potency.
Dark Scepter / Staff of Astarius: Locked into its intended pedestal in the Evenfall. Four petrified Vey now resist its attempts to escape.
Golden Keys and Dagger: Three keys previously given by Ernan and one dagger transformed into gold by contact with the Evenfall's flowing sap.
Torin's Makeshift Doll: Personal doll left beside the Dark Scepter and the four stone Vey as Torin departs.
Braxton Tusks: Removed from the slain animal and retained, though the transcript does not establish their final holder.
Yore and Gander Barrels: Broken shipping barrels found among the contaminated grain and black glints in both Malben mills.

Vyr's Ethomancy: Power that draws life essence from living creatures. Ildren warns that its hunger can eventually overwhelm its wielder.
Evenfall: Realm that is separate from the mortal world and somehow occupies the same place, caught between light, darkness, twilight, and destruction.
Four-Vey Binding: Four Vey held between life and death in stone bodies contain the scepter one at a time until its influence destroys them.
Torin's Forgotten Strength: Four dormant levels of power surrendered to sustain the statues. Once they fail, the binding will consume Torin's constitution and eventually his life.
Golden Root Network: Luminous sap and rootlike tendrils run from the Evenfall's distant tree through Ephthalas and across the surrounding land.
Purification: Torin removes the Braxton meat's poison with divine magic, making the carcass usable as food.

Cadavercia: Umtheran realm in the Quiet Lands where Vyr trained with Zress and learned the truth from Ildren.
Ephthalas: Sacred waterfall and temple whose opened door provides passage into the Evenfall.
Evenfall Precipice: Jagged ledge holding the four statues, the scepter pedestal, and a view of the immense golden tree.
Garn Fields: Roughly one thousand acres outside Malben, about one third already burned to contain the black contamination.
Malben: Agricultural town on the road to Piln whose fields, mills, and residents are threatened by tainted shipments.
Shim's: Malben tavern where the company stays and hears Zharls's history.
Piln: Next destination of the caravan and recipient of an earlier contaminated grain shipment.

Syl'Vyr's Assassination: Ryphus eliminated Vyr's grandmother because her gift threatened his rule, then allowed exile to become the accepted story.
Demantrius's Exile: Ryphus placed the dangerous ethomancer in a metal vessel so that he could not touch living things and sent him into Tyve.
Fall of Sethis: Sethis was saved from ordinary death by her mother, and the place of her fall became the twilight realm called the Evenfall.
The Four Vey: A painter, warrior, sculptor, and poet remain trapped in stone, providing the first living presence of Torin's people that he has encountered.
Malben Contamination: A black-clad employer paid Zharls to distribute Yore and Gander barrels through the fields, after which mold spread into the local food supply.
Piln Shipment: Contaminated grain left Malben roughly a week earlier, placing the city of Piln and its food stores at risk.
