Emrys: The ancient spirit within Normandy's flame. He warns that the flame has been infiltrated and offers to empower the defenders' weapons at the cost of Normandy's life.
Wolfgar: The Shadow Claw gatekeeper who challenges Helena to a trial of first blood and later strikes Skjold's Helm during the test of its authenticity.
Gullfist: An elder of the Shadow Claw outpost. He agrees to support Helena and Bjork's request for an audience if Skjold's Helm survives the clan's traditional test.
Trevina: The leader known as the mother of the Knights of Ithelias. She helps rally Keph's defenders before the Chain arrives.
Tamarack Vale: A longtime ally recruited by Normandy at the Twilight Temple to help defend Keph.
Marek: A small blue goblin-like ally left at the Twilight Temple with Graham to protect the sanctuary and its children.
Rufus Wimple: Keph's quartermaster. He supplies Helena with arrows before she departs for the Staring Woods.

Sethis: Torin's divine sister. The dragon recognizes her magic and reacts violently to its presence.
Kypheron: The mother and creator of dragons whose name opens the citadel's inner passage.

Shadow Claws: A secretive barbarian clan living within the Staring Woods. They value strength, guard their inner enclave, and preserve their own traditions concerning Skjold.
Nornians: Bjorn's clan. They rejected Bjork and his mother when Bjorn was absent to acknowledge them.
Lythans: Barbarian allies who join the defense of Keph and rush from hidden passages when the Chain advances.
The Chain: Draxus Kael's controlled army. Its soldiers attempt to impose their shared will upon Keph and specifically demand the surrender of Whisper and Ernan.

Rusticulum: Metal golems fielded by the Chain. Three approach Keph, including a larger leader that speaks for the attacking army.

Spear of the Ithelion: Also called the Bane of Kypheron. The shattered Veyan weapon reforms when Torin claims it, preserves its wielder from being forgotten, and protects nearby allies from dragonfire and draconic domination.
Skjold's Helm: The symbol Bjorn entrusted to Bjork. Helena secretly enchants it before the Shadow Claws heat and strike it, complicating whether its survival proves inherent power or the strength of belief surrounding it.

True Fire: A source of flame hotter than lava that Emrys says could cleanse the corruption within Normandy's fire without consuming him.
Shared Belief in Skjold: The defenders' collective conviction protects them from the Chain's attempt to break and absorb their wills.

Sheared Peaks: The mountain range containing the ancient Veyan ruins and the sleeping gold dragon.
Veyan Citadel: A sealed ruin deep within the Sheared Peaks. It contains the Spear of the Ithelion and is guarded by an ancient gold dragon.
Soul Forge: The spiritual chamber in which Normandy speaks with Emrys and the other spirits bound to the flame.
