What is an Enchanted Item?

Enchanted Items are items that have a special ability attached to them. The ability varies depending on the item that is being enchanted. Enchanted items are represented in game with an Enchanted Item tag, a laminated tag that describes what the Enchantment does.

Enchanted Item tags must be attached to a suitable phys-rep. For example, an Enchanted Armor Item Tag must be attached to a piece of armor or clothing. An Enchanted Accessory Item Tag must be attached to a suitable accessory like a medallion, bracelet, ring, mask, or circlet. An Enchanted Weapon Item Tag must be attached to a weapon (note: "boffer" type weapons are not able to hold enchantments). If if doubt about what is a suitable phys-rep for a particular enchanted item, please ask a staff member.

Enchanted Item tags found on adventures can only be read by Enchanters or by means of the Aurasense ritual. Enchanted Item tags for objects made by player characters can be read by the crafter/owner of the enchantment or anyone given permission by the crafter/owner.

How do I use an Enchanted Item?

  • Acquire an Enchanted Item tag

  • Attune to the Enchanted Item

  • Attach the Item tag to the proper kind of phys-rep

  • Follow the abilities as explained on the tag. In order to benefit from an Enchanted Item's effects, it must be used as intended. For example, an item intended to be wielded (such as a weapon) must be wielded, an item meant to be worn (such as armor or clothing) must be worn, etc.

How many Enchanted Items can I be attuned to?

In order to make use of an Enchanted Item, the wielder or bearer must be attuned to it. You can be attuned to one item from each Enchanted Item list at a time. Only players with the Tinkerer Ability of the Enchanter skill tree can attune an item to a player character (note: this can be the Enchanter themself). Attunement to an item requires 10 minutes of role play between the Enchanter and the target during which the item being attuned to must be present.

How long does an Enchanted Item last?

Enchanted Items last 4 Convergences from the creation of the item. This will be tracked utilizing a punch system. The first punch will be done when you receive your item tag, and the subsequent punches will be done at Crossroads Check-In at the beginning of a Convergence. One Day Events do not utilize a charge from an item, unless the item is created at that One Day Event.

Disenchanting an Enchanted Item

If you have an Enchanted Item that you no longer have use for, the item can be disenchanted by any character with the Tinkerer ability. By disenchanting an item, you receive a portion of the resources used to create the item back.

Steps for Disenchanting an Enchanted Item

  • Tell Crossroads you are disenchanting an item and indicate which item you are disenchanting.

  • Perform 15 minutes of roleplay in the Workshop

  • Return to Crossroads, turn in the enchanted item tag, and receive the resources from disenchanting the item (total amount of resources received depends on number of charges left and number of overall resources required for that items formula)
