Want to do something special, unique and fantastical with your character? Calls are likely what you are looking for! Calls are a way to perform special actions, usually in battles, that can drastically affect the outcome of the fight. Most Calls are made by first hitting the enemy with your weapon and then saying word associated with the Call. However, some Calls are things you can do to yourself, such as Unstoppable, while other Calls are made at range. Ranged Calls are rare, however due to the confusion that can sometimes happen in battle, it is required to shout, "BY MY VOICE, insert call name here" so people can clearly hear and acknowledge you are making a ranged Call. To help you out, each description below will help explain the requirements for making that call as well as answer a few questions you may have about how to use the Call.
Calls are fueled by either Mana or Prowess. If you make a Call and it doesn't have any effect, such as trying to make a Cleave call on heavy armor, you do not spend the Prowess or Mana point. Which Calls you have access to is determined by where you have put your Character Points (CP). To see more about Abilities and Skill Trees, please see that subtab under Character Creation.
Cleave: When you hit a non-boss* enemy that is not wearing heavy armor, you can call Cleave causing them to drop to zero HP if they are hit in the chest. If you hit the enemy on a limb with a Cleave call, that limb is considered maimed and cannot be used until restored. If you hit the enemy on a buckler with a Cleave call, that buckler is Cleaved through and the arm it was attached to is maimed (please see Armor rules for more details on bucklers).
Note: Cleave cannot be called using a Light weapon.
*Note: If you are fighting a “Boss” enemy, this will still do a large amount of damage but may not kill them outright.
Dauntless: You can call Dauntless on yourself, causing any environmental or negative roleplay effects to end immediately.
Fireball: You can shout "BY MY VOICE, FIREBALL" which causes an area of effect (AOE) attack that does 1 damage to everyone in combat who can hear the call.
Heal: When you call Heal on yourself or another character, you restore 2 HP up to the base maximum HP of the target.
Mass Turn: You can shout "BY MY VOICE, MASS TURN" and this is an area of effect (AOE) call. Any undead or demon type of enemy who heard the call must repel away from you for 10 seconds.
Meteor Swarm: You can shout "BY MY VOICE, METEOR SWARM" which cases an area of effect (AOE) attack that does 2 damage to everyone in combat who can hear the call.
Repel: When you hit an enemy, you can call Repel, causing that enemy to move away from you for 10 seconds.
Reveal: You can shout REVEAL, forcing any enemies nearby to come out of hiding.
Note: Unlike other calls using Prowess or Mana, if you call Reveal and nothing is Revealed, you still spend that point of Prowess. This is not intended to be spammed until effect. Use it wisely.
Root: When you hit an enemy, you can call Root causing that enemy to be entangled in roots for 10 seconds (one foot is planted on the ground but the enemy can still pivot and move their upper body to defend and attack).
Smite: When you hit an enemy with Smite, if that enemy is a lesser undead or demon, they will automatically drop to zero HP.
Note: If you are fighting a “Boss” undead or demon, this will still do a large amount of damage but may not kill them outright.
Stun: When you hit an enemy, you can call Stun, causing that enemy to be completely immobile for 10 seconds or until Cleansed. (the target cannot move at all and are frozen in place)
Taunt: When you hit an enemy, you can call Taunt, causing that enemy to stop what they are doing and come towards you for 10 seconds before snapping out of it.
Turn: When you hit an undead or demon type of enemy, you can call Turn, which causes them to repel away from you for 10 seconds.
Unstoppable: You can call Unstoppable on yourself, bringing you back up from zero HP to your full base HP
Note: Any temporary buffs to HP, such as from potions or other sources are not included.
Weaken: When you hit an enemy, you can call Weaken causing that enemy to be unable to make any calls until Cleansed.
Wither: When you hit a plant or animal type enemy, you can call Wither, causing any lesser plant or animal-based enemy to drop to zero HP regardless of armor they are wearing.
Note: If you are fighting a “Boss” plant or animal, this will still do a large amount of damage but may not kill them outright.
