Ironclad Ward

Ironclad Ward is Altoria's adventurer district, built around the guarded gate that descends into the city's dungeon, the Endless Abyss. Its buildings are sturdy stone reinforced with iron to shrug off weather and stray spells, and the streets run to taverns, inns, smiths, armories, training yards, and stalls selling goods hauled up from the depths. The crowd is mercenaries, treasure hunters, veterans, and green novices, most of them armed, and brawls and drinking contests are routine. The locals have little patience for anyone who can't handle themselves, but there's real camaraderie among people who share the risk of the Abyss.
