Army

The army of Orkfjarr is not a professional army seen elsewhere on the mainland, such as in Auresia. But a collection of able-bodied men who can be raised when, and where needed. Each man, unless of youth or infirmity is expected to answer their call to arms when required. These armies swear themselves only to their superior, rather than the nation. As such, civil wars are frequent between rivalling Langækur, and young man are easily swayed into following others across the sea in the search of wealth, power and, women, often returning to carve out a piece of land on their return.

There is one exception to this however, the oral history of the Orkfjarric recalls a tale of Ættǫrr’s horn, supposedly long lost. His horn, of which only those of his direct discent can pass air through, is a rallying call to all of Orkfjarr, and was famously used to unite the Isles against Arthod the Cruel at the origin of the Commonwealth.

At full strength, the Orkfjarr could be expected to raise around 5,000 men.

The navy of Orkfjarr is not a united force, due to the decentralised nature of the poltics of the Isles, due to this, it is difficult to estimate the extent of the power at sea that the Isles could exert if they should so choose to, however, the most powerful land owners typically have between 10-20 and longships and around 5 cogs/hulks predomintalty used for trading, putting the overall figure close to around 250 longships, 50 cogs and, 50 hulks.
